About Cynthia

42 Years Experience Caring For Dogs
*NEW Part of your fees are now being donated to Austin Pets Alive AND Austin Humane Society.
At Nanny Cindy's you provide the pet, I provide the love.
I absolutely adore dogs and suddenly find myself without one. I've had dogs for the last 42 years and have cherished each pet into their golden years. I would like to share that love an adoration with your pet.
I have a home centrally located in Barton Hills. Totally fenced in yard, concrete floors and plenty of AC. Dogs are never left out in the heat.
When you bring your pet to my house it is the equivalent of going to Grandma's house. In my case "Nanny Cindy's". I believe in lots of love, petting, scratching, snuggling and most importantly, walks for lots of sniffing and exercise. My home overlooks the Barton Creek so we have beautiful views and exceptional routes for walking.
Although I board dogs 24/7 my Day Care and contact hours are 7 am- 7 pm. If you are requesting info or trying to make a reservation during the night I will respond early the next morning.
My goal is to be a pet sitter that you can always depend on. If you have an extended vacation you are planning or a family emergency I am is here for you.
Here is my schedule. We get up and have an early morning walk. If your dog is old it may be only to the end of the block. If your dog is young and raring to go I can walk them up to 30-45 minutes depending on heat index. We come back and have breakfast, then I work in my upholstery shop which is attached to the kitchen. My doggy guest usually hang out in the den/ kitchen and enjoy watching me work while they lounge. LOL Since I work from home there is always time for lots of potty breaks and sniffing. When the weather is nice I keep the sliding glass door partially open so dogs can freely roam inside and out. Lunchtime we play in the back yard. Dinner is at 6 with a short walk, then we snuggle to PBS on the couch for an hour or so. Bedtime is where ever they like. I normally ask you to bring their bed to put in the common area just so they have that security. If your special friend would like to sleep in my bed they are most welcome.
My pet limit goes by seasonal demand. My goal is to give each one of my pet guests the love and attention they deserve. If I am boarding dogs from different homes I may give you a call to confirm that they are dog friendly.
For new guests I prefer for you to drop off your pet early in the day. This allows your "family member/ pet" the opportunity to adjust and learn their way around my home and adjust to their new surroundings. It also allows me to take them for a walk and spend some time with them before bed time.
I'm basically home all the time. When your special friend comes to visit "Nanny Cindy" they will be the center of my universe.

We chose Cindy because of the amazing reviews and obvious experience that she possessed. We weren't disappointed. We had an interesting first experience as another dog became aggressive towards our puppy during a walk. Cindy handled the situation extremely professionally and even risked her own safety to protect our pup. Our Lucy is doing just fine and we are thankful Cindy was the one watching out for her. Cindy even took Lucy to the vet to make sure she was completely okay. The rest of the week we received frequent updates and they reassurred us Lucy was being spoiled and taken care of. When we picked her up she was happy, running to us with a ball in her mouth. She had a great time and we would recommend Cindy for her experience, obvious compassion towards her furry guests and professionalism. Thanks Cindy!

Cindy is great, but my dogs did not do well. Not her fault. I have a reactive dog and he attacked another dog the second day they were there and I had to pick them up early. I felt badly for Cindy and the other dog, and was very sorry it didn't work out.

Cynthia was awesome and treated my boys great. They loved hanging out with her. If ever I find myself in Austin again I will most certainly use her.
