About Tony

8 Years Experience Caring For Dogs
I have a tremendous love in my heart for all animals, particularly dogs. Friends ofter say the celebrity I most resemble is Saint Francis of Assisi. I also have lots of experience working with dogs as a volunteer dog-walker at the Barc Shelter in Brooklyn and the Seiler Animal Hospital in Fort Lauderdale. I am also the proud director and editor of Behave Yourself, the world's first punk rock dog training video, that I shot for Animal Planet's Victoria Welles. My building is now dog-friendly. It wasn't when I bought it back in the late-90s and I was instrumental in striking down our antiquated dog ban and we're now home to many happy dogs. I'm a journalist who works from home covering film under contract to Random House. The most I'm out of the house is a couple hours for a screening, and those are becoming more and more home-based with screeners and online links so I hope your dog likes movies, or at least staring at flickering fields of color. I've done enough pet-sits for friends that I know all of my neighborhood doggie hot-spots from the late-night Waterside dog run (with pool in summer!) to the Halal cart dude on 16th and Ninth who loves to see what tricks your dog can do in exchange for meat scraps from the cart. I think I'd be a great alternative for your dog as I'm not really doing this for the money (but yes, you do have to pay me, sorry;) but more for a cool buddy to hang out with while I work during the day. I'm also trying to shed 30-pounds. So I walk. A lot. Your dog will come with me. I can guarantee we'll be having at least as much fun as you if you're headed somewhere cool, like a Hawaiian resort. And more fun than you if you're headed somewhere sad, like the hospital (Get well soon!). Under the header "Special Accommodations," one of my most frequent charges is a little guy named Jasper who is an adorable, six-month old French Bulldog. But as a Frenchie, he pretty much ticks off every box under the special accommodations header. Also, the shelter I work with in Florida is pretty much flooded with pit bulls post-Michael Vick. Miami/Dade county outlawed the breed (Thanks, Michael!) and didn't even grandfather in folks who already had pits so the Miami shelters flooded with the breed and they even reached us up in Broward. Anyway, all a long way of saying I'm a big guy and so was able to handle some of the aggression and leash-pulling our pit friends sometimes engage in. I also LOVE the senior dogs at the shelter so much and spend a lot of time with them so have gotten good at meds and accidents. Okay, now I'm just humble-bragging so I'm going to stop, but give me a shot. It will be like a fun, extramarital affair for your dog, but in the French manner so it's out in the open and we're all okay with it and no one gets hurt;)

Dogvacay needs a six-star button for Tony! From start to finish Tony was awesome. I met Tony prior my dog Chloe's vacay, and he asked all the right questions; putting my mind at ease about Chloe's stay. The day of Chloe's drop off he greeted us outside his apartment and we went for a walk, putting Chloe (and me) at ease at about my pending departure. During Chloe's stay Tony sent numerous pictures and updates. Chloe loves a good walk and I could see he took her for several adventures. Finally, Tony volunteered to drop Chloe off at my apartment so she was waiting for me when I returned from my trip. I would use Tony again and highly recommend him to others.
Ivy loved her stay with Tony. Will definitely use him again when I'm out of town.
Tony was a great host. We had some last minute changes and Tony was able to accommodate all our requests. Good communication and would def use him again.
10 stars if I could leave that many! A big THANK YOU to Tony!

I needed a last minute reservation for Dudley. I was nervous about finding someone I trusted so fast, but Tony said he was available to meet that evening and if all went well he was willing to take Dudley on the spot. I met Tony at his apt in Chelsea, and after 5 mins of chatting with him, I knew Dudley would be in fantastic hands. We ended up chatting with Duds wandering around the new digs for an hour, and I left with complete peace of mind that my dog was in a loving home. Tony has many years of experience being around and caring for dogs. You can immediately tell he loves dogs and treats animals well. He allowed Dudley free roam of the home and access to the bed and couch. He sent daily photos of the two of them out on walks, in parks, and Duds passed out snoozing after his busy days.

I cannot reiterate how thankful I am to Tony for giving Dudley such a wonderful vacation! When I went to pick Duds up, he just stared at me while lounging against Tony soaking up the all love and pets. I will definitely contact Tony first the next time I need a dog sitter.

Also, I love the new profile pictures! :)
Tony was absolutely great. Took great care of Caesar, was very flexible with pickup and dropoff and sent several pictures throughout the entire stay. Won't hesitate to use him again!
Louie had a great time at Chateau Dogree.
Tony took Louie on a long walk to the dog run and gave our boy the attention he gets at home. He also kept us informed of Louie's upset stomach at intervals throughout the day. We also received pics via text to assure us.
Thanks! We'll stay again
