Wanting to meet some great dogs.

Pet care experience

I did not have pets growing up due to family allergies, but I had some dogs that I was close with, namely my cousin's Collie (who died when I was about 13), and my best friend's dog, a Dane, who just recently passed away due to old age. When I moved here to St. Louis, I was constantly surrounded by dogs of all breeds and sizes as almost everyone I knew had a dog. I was suddenly introduced to a whole new world. Several of my friends are travelers and frequently asked for dog sitters. I was usually one of the first to respond that I would help. So far, my experience consists of dogsitting a 50lb boxer, a 20lb terrier, and two dogs of which I am unsure of their types. One was small and one was quite large. I am a very friendly person and I enjoy sitting with the dogs next to me, or in my lap, playing games with them, taking them outside and letting them run around (in contained spaces), and I try to take them on several walks during the day, not just the necessary morning/evening walk. I try to let them get all of their energy and their "needs" done, so I try to give them about 30-40 minutes to a walk. I really enjoy spending time with them so I try to take them out with me if I need to leave and do errands and things so that I'm not just leaving them by themselves in the home alone all the time. I live in a 6-apartment complex in Tower Grove South. I have a roommate who has 3 parakeets (in a cage) in his room for pets. He will keep the parakeets in his room when your dog is visiting. I am about a half-mile from Tower Grove Park and I don't mind going up to the park and letting the dog walk/run around there. If your dog likes catch via a ball or frisbee, I am an excellent thrower. I do have a full-time job as a social worker that I work at Monday through Friday, usually 9Am-5PM (except Wednesdays I work until about 8:30. I am always able to do an early morning walk/feed and a later at night walk/feed. Sometimes if my schedule permits I can stop in and do a mid-afternoon walk/feed. I also volunteer regularly at Stray Rescue, Gateway Pet Guardians and just recently started at Tenth Life, so I am very in with the rescue movement.

Chad was a saint. My dog is a brat and was hiding from Chad when he came over. I was convinced he had got out or something, but Chad not only searched the house and found him, but got him to use the bathroom too! I was so thankful for all of his effor.

Chad house sat our two mixed terriers (rescue dogs) Tigger and Roo for a week while we were on vacation. He visited with us and the dogs before we left. He demonstrated a real interest in the dogs, listened carefully to our descriptions of their behavior patterns and what we expected for their care. There is no indication that didn't do all that we asked and the dogs were their normal selves when we got back. He sent several pictures of the dogs, which we appreciated very much. We would highly recommend him.

I'd absolutely recommend chad to anyone wanting a caring and responsible pet sitter. He went above and beyond for us- flexing his work schedule so he could stop by mid day to get an extra walk in, getting pet food when we ran out while away. That is truly good service! Can't say enough good things about Chad!

Chad is very reliable and dedicated. He's watched our pup before and does a great job and is easy to communicate with. You won't be disappointed.

Information Chad B. would like to know about your pet

I am still a little bit uncomfortable around Rottweilers, as those are the dogs that attacked me when I was younger and I haven't quite gotten past that. I have grown accustomed to Boxers, Mastiffs, Great Danes, Boston Terriers, Black Labs, Collies, Sheepdogs, St Bernards, Pugs, Boston Terriers, Basset Hounds and some of the smaller breeds. I guess the only things I'd really want to know about the dog prior to it staying with me are its general temperament and if it has all of its necessary shots.

A typical day

I can take the dog up to our roof and he/she can run around. I can walk the dog up to Tower Grove Park and we can have some fun up there. There are lots of dog owners in the neighborhood, lots of grass and trees for the dogs to explore. There is even a dog park within reasonable distance.
