About Susan

30 Years Experience Caring For Dogs
We specialize in Cavalier King Charles Spaniels and only board Cavaliers. With us, your pup gets all the TLC he craves, Plus, we have a houseful of Cavalier playmates for your furry friend. We are mostly home during the day to give your dog cuddles and exercise, where he'll be treated as one of our own.

We only board Cavaliers, ensuring we have consistent temperaments between our own dogs and visiting dogs, as well as considerations for size, exercise and sleeping arrangements. We have been DogVacay hosts for over three years, and have been in Cavaliers for almost 15. We understand the breed well, and care for young puppies who need some extra help remembering to potty outside to elderly ladies and gentlemen who may have a heart murmur and be on medication, or even in CHF who bring their own multi-compartment pill organizer.

While your princess (or prince) is staying with us, we can also give her a quick bath in our professional tub, or perform a "show groom" to bring out her inner champion and superstar style. At this time we no longer do grooming-only services in one day. But, we can, with multi-day boarding usually groom to whatever degree of detail you like.

We accommodate flexible drop-off and pick-up times, and are also on the way to the Atlanta airport. If you arrive home late, Ken can bring your pup right out to the car. We also handle super-early hand-offs for those of you who are red-eye regulars coming in after a long week of work travel.

For new boarders, we prefer to Meet & Greet on Sunday afternoon.

Our goal is to make your dog's visit so fun that he hardly misses you.

Sue is an amazing host and I highly recommend her. I had never left my seven year old Cavalier King Charles Spaniel with anyone, but after a meet and greet with Sue, I knew she would take great care of my Madeline. Maddie was very well cared for during her stay and Sue was able to administer eye drops that she needed daily. I was only in the Atlanta area for a short time, but if I am to return, I would have many repeat stays with Sue.
Excellent! Head's and tails above the rest!
The perfect spot for our Cavalier King Charles Spaniels--they had a ball, and fit right in with the crew. Thank you, Sue!
I love sending my dog to stay with Susan! He always comes back happy and tired from playing with all of her other cav pups. I love how she sends photos while I am away, and checks in regularly! Will definitely be utilizing her in the future.
Susan and her adorable family was adorable with my small dog! She is really nice and she took care of Rio in a really good way! She replied to all my questions really fast, and she updated constantly with photos and text messages! Rio enjoyed a lot her time there and Susan’s house will be the Rio’s second house here in Atlanta when me and my family will be on vacation outside the country! Thanks Susan!
Susan and Ken and their group are the only
people that I will leave my cavalier Kali with.
Kali is shy and Sue does everything possible
to make her comfortable at their home.
She is extremely knowledgable about the breed,
so I have piece of mind when she is with Sue!
Her own dogs are precious as well!
Sue is the best!! loving and professional...never think twice about Snickers care once I drop him off. Plus her daily pictures and comments on how he is doing are a wonderful touch. You CAN'T go wrong with Sue.
This was now our second (or third?) stay with Sue and I can't say enough good things about what a perfect stay this was for our Cassie & Georgie Girl. Her dogs are so easy to adapt to visitors and her yard is just the right size playground, with plenty of room for all the dogs. Both of our dogs are on the elderly side, both with medical issues. Sue knows the breed backwards & forwards & I always leave learning something new. I had no worries our entire trip whether our girls were enjoying their stay...which is huge. If you have dogs with medical issues, you worry about them so much. To not even have any concern while staying with Sue is just such a relief. Truly a blessing to have found Sue!!
Wonderful care given to our Cavoodle puppy. Very pleased.
Our cavalier Ellie had an amazing stay with Sue and Ken. I was a nervous mom leaving our girl for the first time. Sue sent me regular updates with photos providing me with a glimpse into Ellie's stay. We would definitely use Sue again and highly recommend her. Thanks again!
Awesome! The perfect home-away-from home for our Cavalier! Thanks Susan!
We love Sue. She is my go to person when I need to leave town with out Frisco. He always comes back happy.
Awesome stay and we felt so great about leaving our puppy with them. Thank you!
Sue is a wonderful host of the highest integrity. She is very knowledgeable about the breed. She was sensitive to my dog's needs and very helpful throughout the entire process. I wouldn't hesitate in recommending her to others.
Frisco loves Sue's house. He gets along great with her pack. She is always flexible on pick up and drop off times. Frisco comes home happy but tired from all of the fun he has had. Thanks again for a great visit.
My dog, Flynn, just loved, loved, loved being with Susan and Ken. They truly love their animals, which makes them fantastic hosts! We look forward to boarding him there again.
Susan and Ken are great hosts for our puppy. Every time we drop him off, he is excited to be there. They are truly Cavalier lovers and I know he is in expert hands when he boards there. They are great!
Lana and Caesar had a great time, another home away from home for them !
Oh my goodness...what a wonderful match Susan was for our Cassie! Cassie came home so calm I have to think she had a fabulous time! Our dog needed meds & is on a raw food diet & Susan had no problem with any of it. She also does grooming & we opted to have Cassie groomed while she was! We got back the cleanest, prettiest dog ever!! We are so thankful to Susan for sharing her lovely home with Cassie & taking such good care of her!!
Whenever I take Frisco over to Sue's house he is so excited to go run with her Cavalier pack. He enjoys spending time there.
A home away from home for Cavaliers!
We have boarded Uno with Susan and her husband three times so far and we are thoroughly satisfied with the care and love Uno gets in his second home. One of those stays was over a month and we were thrilled to see that Susan cared for Uno just like her own dogs. He was not caged and had a huge yard to run around with his mates. Given that he is such a picky eater, we were actually surprised to see that he had no problems at all adjusting to the new environment. Susan is quite flexible with scheduling and pickup/dropoff times, so that helps a lot as well. All in all, a great experience.

Uno likes his home away from home and he intends to keep it that way in the near future.
Frisco had a great time at Sue's house again. He loves to stay with them.
My Lucy is part of the Cavalier family when she stays with Susan.
Another great dogvacay! Sue makes everything easy and convenient. It is so nice to be able to travel knowing my dog is in good hands.
As soon as I mention Sue's name, Bella wags her tail, licks my face and runs to the door! Sue and her husband Ken are wonderful people. They go above and beyond to make sure Bella is well-cared for and loved while I am away. I would not take my Cavalier to another dog-sitter!
My cavalier mix has had a great time staying with Sue, Ken and all the dogs where she is treated like family. Sue sends pictures and text messages to let you know how your dog is doing while you are away. She is very professional, knowledgeable and flexible. It is nice to be able to travel while knowing you dog is being so well cared for. I highly recommend the Cavalier Couch Surfing Club!
Frisco had a great time staying with Sue and her family. She did a great job on grooming him and he has a lot of hair. He is so handsome now. He came home clean and happy. If you have a Cavalier Sue house is a great place for your dog.
Our Cavalier had a fabulous time with Susan! She and her husband are very friendly and I felt completely comfortable leaving my little baby there! They have a great yard for the dogs to run around in as well. My dog can be high maintenance and get stressed around other dogs, but Susan gave her a lot of attention and also offered me advice on vets in the area since we had recently moved here. She was also prompt in responding when we inquired, sent pics of Isabella while we were gone, and was just great all around! We highly recommend Susan!
Beautiful and comfortable home for pups with a wonderful backyard. The hosts are extremely warm, caring, responsible people who love dogs. Edison, our Cavalier King Charles Spaniel fit right and was a happy camper when he was picked. A true sign of a successful dog vacay! We feel so fortunate to have found this great option for pet sitting.
