Experienced pet parents, foster home and pet sitters. Our two cocker spaniels welcome new friends to our row home w/ fenced yard on the Hill!
My husband, Jorge, and I live in a rowhouse with our spry, 11 year old cocker, Millie, and our new pup, Pisco, who we adore. We usually have a foster dog hanging their leash here until they get adopted, so they're used to sharing her home with guests. This has equipped us to help dogs from all different backgrounds feel comfortable very quickly. In the past 9 years, we have fostered close to 50 dogs with a local cocker rescue, where I serve on the Board. In fact, we plan to donate 10% of our DogVacay earnings to the rescue!
We think of dogs as family and treat them as such. They're spoiled and are at the center of our lives! During the work week, Jorge and I both work outside the home, but he walks home every day to spend lunchtime with the dogs and we are home most evenings. On the weekends, we're always home and can do longer walks to the Capitol and Eastern Market. Dogs get 2-3 walks per day and are usually alone no more than 4 hrs at a time.
Our dogs have the run of the house, but we can accommodate crates if you prefer. Our house is three stories, so stairs and hardwood floors are also part of the daily routine. We also have a small fenced yard (6' privacy) with a dog door so they never have to "hold it".
Best of all, we've been in your shoes and have boarded our dogs with DogVacay hosts before! We're "those people" who appreciate the updates and photos of our pet's daily lives, so we'd be happy to do that for you, too, to help give you peace of mind while you're away.
We love all dogs and breeds, but since Millie is 11 and our house and yard aren't too big, sadly we aren't the best fit for very large, active or young dogs.
We are more than happy to provide custom quotes should your situation be different from most - just let us know!
