About Brooks

23 Years Experience Caring For Dogs
First, I'd like to introduce myself. My name is Brooks, and I'm 34 years old. My profession as a licensed Cosmetologist, in the salon, has been since April of 2001. I work Tuesday through Saturday full time. Tuesday's Thurday's, and Friday's I work 9-6pm. Wednesday's are 9-4pm, and Saturday 9-2pm full time at my job. Daycare sitting or home visits can only be done around my work schedule or on my weekends days (Sat approximately 3pm, Sunday & Monday). Any meet n greets will have to be scheduled after work on available dates. Pick ups and Drop offs must be before leaving for work or after work.

Please note that my profile states I will not accept aggressive, non socialized, or destructive dogs into my home. All dogs must be house broken and only go potty outside. All dogs must meet my specifications to stay in my home. I have this stated by my rules in this section below( See the ** section below).

I have been in a hairy job most of my life, in both ways. Through people and animals. Haha!
My love for animals has been my whole life. I have always had animals of some sort.

In my lifetime, I have owned dogs, cats, cockatiels, guinea pigs, bunnies, hamsters, bearded dragons, fish, and a fire bellied toad.

Years of experience are under my belt with working with all types of animals. I had worked at Petz Unlimited for nearly 8 years as a pet counselor, sales representative, care taker, dog trainer, vet assistant when he came into cate for all our animals, and a manager. At the pet store, we were elite with offering a very large array of exotic & common breed of birds, small animals, dogs(including rare breeds) cats, ferrets, chinchillas, hedgehogs, guinea pigs, bunnies, mutiple types of reptiles, turtles, African Spurred Tortoises, Caimen, and fish (tropical, salt water, pond fish)

With being around all types of animals, I'm knowledgeable and familiar on how to care for them.

My house has a fully fenced in back yard and is a medium to large sized yard. It's long enough to play frisbee with my dog or fetch. They're is more unfenced area beyond my fence to have more space for play time or potty breaks. My front porch can be closed off with a built in gate. That way the dogs can catch a fresh breeze on a nice day outside without any worries of them getting away(
while I'm there).
My area has sidewalks and a park on the other side of my street. It's a great neighborhood to walk in. There is a large area of open grass that used to be a baseball field on the same side of the street my home is on. City Island isn't far from my house either. That's another great place to take walks and socialize. My dog loves going there. Dogs walks are an extra charge per walk per dog and go by a rate of 30 or 60 minute walks per dog. These charges will be added to visits, daycare, and overnight stays per your request. A custom quote will have to be done to add more then 1 service to any booking.

I recently lost my oldest dog(American Bulldog) to cancer on 12/18/15 last minute. He had a rare cancer when he was 8, but was clear after surgeries years later. Unfortunately, both my dogs were put down within a years time. The other had some sort of back injury that was unknown of how it happened while at work. It had been partial paralysis of the hind legs, then bladder incontinent. His bladder's blood vessel ruptured within 2 months of his injury causing the gut wrenching decision to have him put down. So, this last year has been tragic. I did get a 6 month old Cane Corso puppy on 3/9/15 to help my older dog cope with the loss of his Bro Bro/best friend. So now, Giovanni is left all alone when I'm not at the house or can't take him along in the car.

I feel the pet sitting/caring for your animals will give me the great joy in what I always loved to do as a part time job.

Giovanni is a very friendly dog with other dogs and people. He loves kids and is gentle towards them. He may be a bit shy when you first meet him, but he warms up to you very quickly. He walks nicely on the leash, so other dogs can walk with him at the same time. Or seperately, if requested. On the other side, he can be hyper and playful. He is still all puppy when it comes to play time. He tuckers out and snores once he's tired of playing. I say this, because he's snoring right now after playing. Haha!

There are always fresh healthy snacks given to my dog and yours(fresh veggies/fruit) and all natural/healthy treats including any you provide.

Of course, there are plenty of toys around the house to share and play with. You may provide your own dog toys for your dog(s) too, but know play time involves tug of war at times. So any toys you wish to not have ripped or possibly weathered sooner, please leave them at home. I share most of the toys my dog has, except a few favorites. They are cleaned frequently, so they aren't gross or unsanitary. If your dog is territorial of toys and is aggressive involving toys, they aren't a good fit to staying in my home. Any toys giving possesiveness/aggression will be taken from them and put up if it's only a certain toy they end up favoring. I do my best to prevent danger to everyone.

** Any possible dog(s) that stay in my home, must be potty trained and will not be destructive when left alone. I can watch a younger dog, but only if fully potty trained and has free roam of your home when you leave. I don't want to have cages in my home for overnight stays. This is due to the sizing of my living area.

If you would like your dog bathed and their nails trimmed while they stay with me, I offer those services as well for an extra service charge.

If you would like me to come to your home and care for your animal(s), then I do this service as well within 10 miles from Lemoyne, PA. I prefer more local, so I can make sure I'm close to home, if I'm caring for other dogs as well as my own.

** The RULES FOR MY HOME Daycare & Overnight stays are as follows:

* A meet n greet with boarding in my home 1st before bookings, please. This is to ensure proper fitting for my home and my dog.
Tiny/ small dogs need to be ok with an xl breed
MEET N GREETS should take 30 minutes to 1 hour. Please limit the time in our meeting, so I can accommodate other potential customers. Thank you.
* All dogs must be up to date on shots & vaccinations
* All female dogs must be spayed; males are ok, if not neutered(my dog isn't neutered, and I only want to breed him with pure breed Cane Corso female)
* All dogs MUST be free of fleas & ticks, plus be using a topical monthly flea & tick medication
*All dogs MUST be friendly towards people & other dogs, NON-aggressive dogs only
* All dogs should have great vocal manners and not bark constantly or all day long.( I don't want to drive my neighbors crazy)(being humerous)
* All dogs MUST have proper ID tag for their name, & rabies, County registration tag, as well as any microchip tag (if microchipped) this is to ensure the utmost safety of your pet in the event of vet care or if he/she would break loose from my home(worst case scenario).
* Care instructions, a leash per dog, dog food, dog bowls, special items, & medications must come with the dog(s) at time of stay
* All dogs must be potty trained(no accidents in the house) and at least 6 months-1 year old to stay at my home. No crates please. This is to prevent damage to my personal belongings, furniture, & flooring that is NOT covered by Dogvacay.
- Non-destructive behavior must be with each dog staying in my home for daycare or overnight stays. This is to prevent damage to my personal belongings & home that is NOT covered by Dogvacay.
* Please list an emergency contact, vet info & #, plus when you will return for pick up

You can use the pet sitter notes in Microsoft Works. I have used this for years and it gives you peace of mind knowing the person caring for your animals haves everything in writing.

During our meet n greet appointment, I will have a Dogvacay form for you to fill out for each dog staying in my care. This has most of the vital information on it, but your notes are great to have for any special care instructions.

* If you request your dog(s) to be dropped off at your house, please let me know ahead of time. Mile range from my home for delivery iis within 10 minutes of Lemoyne and is an additional Dogvacay fee.
Any other questions, please let me know.
If your dog is spoiled and you fear they won't get the affection & attention needed, don't worry! I love to snuggle, give & receive lots of kisses, plus offers treats. Play time is in store for them, if they love to play.
For dogs that need medication, I'm qualified to care for your loved ones. My pet store career was administering medications to the dogs, as well as my own dogs through the years.
** If I feel your dog may have some bad habits or could use some training, I can help assist you with that too. We can work on training while they are here or can schedule visits for the work. I work in the Cesar Millan way. "Calm, assertive manor", but also loving and caring. There several steps to use for training. Depending on circumstances, it may be as simple as corrective ways through vocal, hand gestures, clicker, tone correction & even treat stimulation. Some stubborn dogs require more thorough approach and work.
I pose as the pack leader and can teach them tricks without speaking. Just using hand gestures over time.

There is a separate fee for rehabilitating/training your dog from the walking, check up visits, pet sitting, overnight stay care, bathing, and nail trimming.
Pet training is preferred in your home, if dog (s) are under 1 year of age.

*Bathing long haired & XL dogs will be a higher cost.

*Nail trimming ranges from $20-30 each. I can file down the nail smooth after cutting the nails back. I use an electric dremel tool for filing them down (if they are ok with the tool). Hand filing can be done as an alertnative.

*A custom quote is best for asking these services per your request per dog by size.

I look forward to meeting you and your dog(s)!

Brooks is one of the most knowledgeable people of dogs that I know. But not only is she dog smart, she is extremely loving and affectionate toward them. I've come to her for advice on my dog many times, and I would totally trust her to take care of him, above and beyond, for an overnight if we ever needed to!

Very caring. Goes above and beyond. Would trust my pet with her again. Considerate and very friendly.
Brooks is truly a Dog person. Our large very robust Rotty had the time of her life staying with Brooks and Giovanni . The pictures and videos she sent were so reassuring. She is better than anything you can wish for in a Dog Sitter. Her knowledge and caring attitude are above and beyond all you could ever expect. I cant imagine a better dog sitter!

Absolutely amazing! First time I have ever left my pup with someone for more than a few hours, so I was extremely nervous, but after researching a few sitters, I felt very comfortable with Brooks; especially after meeting her and her pup, I knew I had nothing to worry about. She provided lot of updates and pictures, it was very comforting and eased any anxiety I had over someone else caring for my dog while I was out of town. Brooks's background with animals and her love and affection for them make her the ideal candidate -- if you are looking for someone to care after your dog, hands down Brooks is the right choice!

This was my first time using someone outside of my family to visit and walk my dogs and I couldn't have been more pleased. I was very nervous and hesitant to try a sitter as one of my dogs is a rescue dog that is still fairly new and very skittish around people other than me and my other dog is a 10 year old very large rotty mix. But from all of the videos and pictures I received during her visits I think they had a better time with Brooks than they do with me.

From the very quick response to my initial inquiry, to the home introduction visit, communications leading up to, and the vacation itself, Brooks did an outstanding job taking care of my two dogs and being genuine and informed. I would highly recommend her to anyone who is in need of someone to look after and take care of their dogs.

Thank you Brooks
