About Doris

30 Years Experience Caring For Dogs
My dogs and I enjoy sharing our home with your canine family member(s). We are available day, night, weekends, and holidays. To provide a home-like atmosphere, your dog will have full access to our home to choose a favorite napping spot, enjoy playtime and the company of a few other friendly dogs, snuggle by the fireplace, or lounge on our large screened porch. Dogs who prefer being outdoors will enjoy a large tree-shaded yard with 6' wood fencing, locked gates, and access to a utility room. Outdoor dogs will be brought indoors during temperature extremes, bad weather, or if they prefer being indoors part-time too. Your dog's normal daily schedule will be followed to minimize any stress of missing you. No more than 2 dogs are accepted at any given time so your dog can receive the care and attention he or she deserves. Your dog's "Me time" each day is for her alone, with no other dogs for distraction. "Me time" could include a walk in the beautiful Duck Creek Greenbelt; grooming; playing his favorite games; a baked beef marrow bone (this is a favorite!); playing in the 'kiddie pool', getting a tummy rubs, scratches, and basic ear cleaning; playing 'find the ball', hide & seek, or tug of war. Extra care is taken during our hot summer months to prevent overheating.
I've been a volunteer and medical foster mom for a local dog rescue group for many years. Dogs with vision impairment, deafness, diabetes, epilepsy, are welcome upon approval. I love caring for "senior" dogs too. Providing you with the confidence and peace of mind your dog will be safe, happy, and well cared for during your absence is my first priority. We'd love to become your dog's 'home away from home'!
No aggressive dogs, please~!

Doris is incredible and a natural with dogs. After meeting her I knew my Great Dane was in good hands. My Dane is older and has 3 legs. I adopted her one year ago and she can be defensive with other dogs. Doris knew exactly how to handle her to ensure a good experience with all of the dogs. I highly recommend Doris and will definitely ask her to dogsit again!
Doris's home is set up very well to accommodate dogs. It is obvious that she is very good with them and has had a lot of experience taking care of them. When I picked up my sweet doggy, he was happy and seemed to have had a good time on his own vacation.
Doris took such wonderful care of my sweet rambunctious boy! He had such a great time he didn't even want to come home :) Doris and her adorable doggies made the perfect temporary home for Teddy and I am so grateful for her loving attention and care. We will definitely be back!
Doris was simply great. We were able to take a guilt-free vacation while knowing our pup was being loved and doted on. We received three sets of photos showing our boy sleeping, romping with other dogs, and being petted by family members. We will definitely use Doris again.
Doris is an amazing person and took excellent care of my Great Dane puppy Willie. This was his first stay away from home and he was so content with staying with her. It felt like home to him! I will definitely use her services again.
Doris was an amazing host for Buddy, my seven year old Husky Lab mix. She sent me update texts/photos and gave Buddy his medication per my instructions. She has watched Buddy twice now and is my first choice for future vacations.
I absolutely love Doris and her fur babies! She took wonderful care of my Sandy while we were on vacation. She sent us pics and emails and Sandy interacted well with her dogs. We plan to bring Sandy back for daycare days so that she can continue to see her friends. :)
Doris provided an awesome vacation for my dogs. One of my dogs is a rescue with seperation anxiety issues, and Doris was able to get Daisy out of her shy shell and make her feel comfortable. She had numerous toys for my dogs to play with, and provided exceptional care for them during their stay. She brushed them nightly, had special nights where she gave them a baked beef bone, and sent me daily emails with their progress for the day and fun pictures of them playing during the day. She really was able to understand the different personalities of my dogs. I am so impressed with her care and concern for my little ones. I felt 100% comfortable staying an extra day on my vacation because I knew my pups were being loved and taken care of in my absence. I will be using Doris Canine Cove again and again and again. :)
Doris is passionate about dogs. Our dog, Miller, was free to roam the house and yard and he totally loves his freedom. I loved the pictures Doris sent us throughout our vacation. We actually anticipated seeing those pictures on a daily basis. We totally trust Doris to take the best care of Miller and we will send him there next time we are out of town.

The Ashbaughs
As always, Rocky was well treated and enjoyed his stay at Doris' home.
Doris does an excellent job of keeping us abreast of Rockies status and activities while he is with her.
Everything went as we would expect. Rocky seemed well cared for and it was just as much a vacation for him as us.
