Sarah and Max offer a highly supervised environment, loving care, sensitivity to particular needs, knowledgable experience, and many walks tailored to your dog's needs (long/short/vigorous/leisurely as needed). Our normal walks include a one-mile morning walk, short mid-day walks, and one-mile evening walk. This is variable based on dog needs. We are highly attentive to creating an individualized experience for each pup, and we also LOVE sending photo updates (we know you miss your pup's sweet face and we completely understand)! Between our two schedules someone is usually always home!
About Us (by Sarah):
I absolutely love animals and have been caring for dogs my entire life.
Growing up with a veterinarian father, I have cared for many family dogs, foster dogs, and other pets (cats, pigs, ducks, goats, iguanas, sugar gliders, chameleons, geckos, exotic fish, etc.) throughout the years. Growing up I spent many summers walking, feeding, and caring for dogs, cats, and exotic animals in the kennels of my father's animal hospital. My experience with dogs is expansive including a wide-range of breeds (beagles, rottweillers, labs, bull dogs, pugs, irish wolfhounds, shelties, jack russel terriers, lhasa apso, dalmations, lovely mutts, and many more!), ages, behavior tendencies, and medical needs.
My husband, Max, is a 5-star dog-lover, who works at a 5-star hotel in Center City in the evenings. Growing up in South Carolina he was a primary care giver for his family's beagles and labradors. He has high energy, a natural canine intuition, and is great at ensuring that our guests get all of the attention and exercise they need! We ventured into this business to satiate my urge to get a second dog, until I graduate, to keep Attie company, and it is going so great so far!
Sarah is currently a graduate student. For the most part she works from home for a nonprofit organization, but does work a few morning shifts/week at a restaurant around the corner. Max mostly works week-day evenings and Sunday morning.
**Between September and May, we will have additional increased availability, as Sarah's time spent at home studying/researching will increase during school.
About our dog:
Our golden retriever mix, Attie, is very friendly and loves the opportunity to make more doggie friends. She is a very laid-back, almost 6 year old, spayed golden retriever mix with up to date vaccinations. She has a very gentle/neutral demeanor and gets along with pretty much every dog we have encountered. She is great at reading other dog's cues and is great with dogs who are playful, or dogs who are not interested in playing but want to peacefully coexist.
About our care and apartment:
We make certain to specifically follow each owner's care and training procedures. We always feed in separate rooms to absolutely eliminate any possibility of food-agression or stress. We do not feed guest dogs unapproved food/treats. We absolutely never let guest dogs off-leash.
Our apartment has two bedrooms, wood and tile floors, and a fenced-in-roof-deck. We live near the Philadelphia Art Museum and Fairmount park and love taking long strolls around these nice areas. There is also an empty field across the street from our house which is like an unofficial neighborhood dog park which is great for quick walks in extreme weather, or for quick night-time walks. We have a car and can provide transportation in if pickup/drop-off is needed or in case of medical emergency.
For the sake of our dog, guest dogs, and our home environment, all guests must be non-aggressive and friendly with other dogs, house-trained, and have up to date vaccinations, heart worm, and flea medication.
