Homes with other dogs or cats. Beagles are herd dogs, so they love the companionship of other pets.
Trainability
Pretty challenging even for experienced dog owners. Beagles are super independent, so they are at best only temporarily obedient. Their instincts have them following their nose.

They are small and well-tempered, so they can easily live in an apartment as long as they’re getting enough exercise.

History of Beagle

History

Beagles are such an old breed that their earliest origins are unknown. It’s been said that Beagle-like hounds were brought to England by the Romans, and Greek documents as early as 400 B.C. describe Beagle-esque hounds that were tireless hunters. By 1860, Beagles were quite popular in England for their intelligence, stamina, and courage on hunting trips.
Facts about Beagle

Good To Know

They have more than 220 million scent receptors (in comparison, humans have only 5 million), and are often found with their nose to the ground. Since they were bred to hunt in packs, they love being with other people and dogs, but the hound in them makes them not-so-great around rabbits, hamsters, or other small, fluffy prey-like things. Fun fact: the Beagle’s white-tipped tail helps hunters keep them in sight during a rabbit chase.
Beagle health and care

Health & Care

Height: 13” to 15” at the shoulder
Weight: 18 to 30 pounds
Lifespan: 10 to 15 years
Most Beagles are healthy dogs, but some face hip dysplasia and hypothyroidism.
Their short, easy-to-care coat hardly sheds and doesn’t require many baths. Brush your dog’s teeth a few times a week, keep their nails trimmed, and use a medium-bristle brush or a hound glove on their coat once a week to encourage new growth, and they’ll be good to go.
Beagle personality

Personality

Beagles are known as little comedians. They are happy, joyful, and easy-going, and since they follow their nose wherever it leads them, they are often into some hilarious hijinx.
