My name is Angel. I originally started hosting pups to help ease the pain of losing Blue. I lost Blue, my 14 year old Siberian Husky to Wobblers diseases 3 years ago. I watched Blue transition from a 3 month old ball of energy into my old man. I started re-directing my sadness by hosting on Dog Vacay. That is when I came up with Blue's Haven, a second home for dogs to feel safe and secure in as Blue did. As I was going through the healing process I suffered another devastating loss. My Beloved Spaz in Late Feb 2014. Spaz was my 11 year old apple- head Siamese cat. Spaz was my helpless romantic. The bond I shared with both my boys was unbelievable. These emotional roller coasters has left me with much heartache while suffering from empty nest syndrome.
Upon these tragic times, I am not yet ready to fully commit to another paw friend. However, I still have plenty of love, care and space to share. This is how Blue's Haven comes into effect.
In our household remains 1 awesome cat by the name of Chill. He minds his business most of the time. Chill terribly misses his brothers Spaz and Blue. Going from a household of three pets to now one has been pretty hard on him. He welcomes canine company so Blue's long distance cousins are welcome.
I am an active, married, young professional in my late 30's who works from home. I have over 12 years experience as a Human Resource Director. I currently work in a variety of fields. I have over 24 years experience caring for dogs. I have a large knowledge of all dogs, but specialize in handling large breeds. My former pups and I have completed Dog Obedience Courses Level 1 & 2 with the ASPCA over the years. I still maintain those tools as a reference as I host different guest.
I have great availability to take on your Doggy Vacay. I generally stick to one on one stays in which your pup would be the only canine in my care. On occasion, I may host more than one pup at once. I only host multiples when I am personally familiar with their temperaments and have cleared it okay with all owners beforehand. I am also able to accommodate multiple, same house hold siblings: )
We are now excited to extend our services to the Dutchess County. Our home is in executive neighborhood on a culde-sac. We are on a 3/4 acre land with a 1600 sq ft fenced in dog run. Our house is located on the south side of Poughkeepsie. A very secluded, quiet, old style family neighborhood. We are located by several parks & walking trails. We look forward to hosting pups in the area as well as bringing our city friends over for a retreat.
I personalize each experience to minimally interrupt your pups routines. I am pretty flexible. Just inform me of your specific needs. Highly active to couch potatoes- big or small. All dogs are welcomed!
I love to explore new sites and scents. We will keep BUSY unless your pup requires different needs. My wonderful Spouse is a College Professor and Small Business Owner who accompanies me on my quirky adventures from time to time. We are constantly on the road and love to invite our allowing guest to come along with us. Your pup will be a central part of our family.
Dog Vacay has featured Blue's Haven on their twitter feed. Dog Vacay wrote: "This Host's cozy home is not to be missed! Check Angel A's puppy haven."
Help me keep the legacy of Blue's Haven alive. Don't just book a stay, book an experience : )
