When people leave their loved ones (i.e. pets and children) with strangers they want to be certain that they are leaving them in good hands. Owners expect an attentive and warm sitter with a true passion for pets. My future career choice to be a veterinarian along with my past experience with animals, dogs in particular, make me great sitter and best friend for your pet!
Not only do I have a deeper knowledge of animal health because of my pre-vet classes, but I also grew up with dogs. As the oldest child I was always tasked with caring for our two dogs (one 65lbs golden doodle and a 30lbs malt-poo). Even though I had my fair share of dog interaction at home, I still volunteered at the human society while I was in high school and joined the animal aid club (volunteer dog walking) in college because I missed their presence. I also have a keen eye for observing the health and wellbeing of animals as well, which I learned while conducting a research study on the effect of treatment for arthritis on an Asian elephant at Zoo Miami and as an intern at the Animal Welfare Society in Coral Gables. I have experience with a broad range of animals and enjoy caring for all of them.
I live in an apartment complex that is about 1,000 square feet with a balcony about a mile away from the main campus of the University of Miami. I have one roommate, and we are both 20 years old and attend the university. I also have my own car to transport pets if necessary. My complex consists mainly of students who attend UM, and many of them have dogs. My complex is surrounded by decent sized grass blacks around the sidewalks, and there is a small dog park in the back of my complex. Unfortunately, my roommate is allergic to cats, so I would not be able to care for them in my home. I take classes ever weekday from around 10:00am to 1:30pm and every Wednesday from 2:00pm to 5:00pm, which would be the only times your pets would be left unsupervised, but my favorite part of the day would definitely be coming home to your best friends!
Starting second semester (middle of January) I will have a different class schedule. Mondays I will have class from 11:00am - 5:00pm with two one hour breaks in between when I can go back and walk your dog if necessary. On Tuesdays I will have class from 11:00am - 12:30pm. On Wednesdays I will have class from 11:00am - 6:00pm with two one hour breaks in between. On Thursdays I will have class from 11:00am - 12:00pm and 2:00pm - 6:00pm. On Fridays I will have class from 11:00am - 2:30pm.
