About Amy

45 Years Experience Caring For Dogs
I'm a veterinarian so I can handle special medical cases. We have a huge fenced yard and an active home. A private beach on our property is every dog's favorite - for swimmers or not. We live near open space for hikes and will take trips to Fort Funston if you or your dog wishes.
We happily pet sit any type of pet - not just dogs.
Although we are not always home, both of us work from home and our babysitter lives here too so there is almost always someone here with the pets.
My kids and husband love animals and are great care takers as well.
Our dog, Holly, is the puppy care taker when we foster for Pound Puppy Rescue.
Although there are few rules in our house for pets, we can enforce your rules if you don't want us to spoil your pet by sleeping on beds and furniture.
We have a bird, chickens, cat, and 3 dogs. But a new guest always gets the most attention!

We had already decided that this would be Abby's last visit as we were realizing that this home was filled with unpredictability and chaos. We were repeatedly asked what time we would be dropping off and picking up, even though we have always been clear about our plans, to the point where there was confusion on Amy's part as to which weekend Abby would be at their home. (In fairness to Amy, she was very gracious about an evening when the clock was wrong at a host's home and we were late picking Abby up.) We never knew who would be at the home to receive Abby: one of the children, the parents or their live in babysitter. During this stay, apparently there was an incident on Saturday, which we were not told about immediately, but were contacted early Sunday morning asking when we would be picking Abby up. I mentioned that our time frame on the reservation was 6pm. Amy asked if we could pick up at 11 am, that she would like to talk with us. We agreed, arranged an earlier flight home, and arrived at Amy's home at 11 am. Upon our arrival, their son was the one to greet us. Amy had been called away, and we were told that her husband had decided to go on a bike ride 15 minutes before our arrival. The middle school aged son was left to tell us about the incident.

Reese had a wonderful time with Amy, her family and her dogs. They walked and swam in the bay and gave lots of love. Reese was happily exhausted when she got home, snoring soundly. highly recommend this special family!
Amy, her family and pets are wonderful! Reese enjoyed every moment swimming and playing with the other dogs. She was so tired when she got home she was snoring and wonderfully exhausted from fun!
We had not left Sarge, our German Shepherd, since adopting him over 18 months ago and were quite nervous about leaving him. Amy, and her family, provided an incredible home away from home for Sarge. We received daily photos and updates, enabling us to relax and enjoy our trip.
It seemed to us that Sarge was also enjoying his vacation, enjoying plenty of exercise, great company (dogs, cats and humans), expert care (trained vet, observant family), rest and love.
Highly recommend this host!

Amy and her family were simply wonderful to our pup. She kept us up posted on all the doggie activities with frequent texts and pictures so we knew exactly what Laika was up to -- romps in the yard, swims at the beach, hanging out with the other dogs.
Thank you so much, Amy!!

Can't imagine our baby staying anywhere else. I am convinced he is so loved.
Amy put my pitbull in bed with her cat and acted surprised when they didn't get along, using it as rationale to cancel the thanksgiving reservation I made months ago 2 weeks before the holiday, not to mention putting both animals at risk. Not sure what kind of vet does this.

While we missed having our Lola stay with us over the holidays we were excited to have her stay with Amy and her family / dogs. Her home is very warm and welcoming and Amy was careful to slowly introduce Lola to other dogs. She was very welcoming to any unique traits about Lola- and Lola got to go into the water on her property (which is fantastic and has a lot of outdoor space).

We got tons of photos and were always informed.

Amy always treats Bella like a part of the family! I feel at ease knowing she's having fun with her pals while I'm away. Thanks Amy for your love and care!
Amy's practice is one of love. She provided the best possible care and attention for my sweet Bella Luna and treats every animal as a family member.
Amy is AWESOME ! the best dog sitter ever.. She and her family looked after our 16 years senior and 5 years old obnoxious dogs very well. It was an amazing experience. THANK YOU !
Amy and her family couldn't have been more lovely, and our dog had the best week at their house. Pala is almost a year old and adores people and off-leash excursions, so it was important for me to find a dog-sitting environment where she would get lots of attention and exercise. Amy messaged us with photos and updates every day. The fact that she's a vet is an extra bonus -- she handled an itchy ear situation with our pup and gave good advice to boot. I'll happily drive the 30-40 minutes from the East Bay to have Pala stay here again.

Amy was fantastic with Moxie! She kept me updated with photos, and Moxie never lacked for entertainment. . . .swimming, ball chasing and lots of love! I was happy with the whole experience!
Amy and family are wonderful! Always gracious, kind, and welcoming. So willing to work with a flexible schedule, we appreciate their hospitality for our beloved four legged family member.
Amy was wonderful and welcomed Bella into her home and family with lots of love and attention and kept me free from worry with a constant stream of photo updates showing my sweetheart happily frolicking.
We rarely travel without our senior special-needs dog, Jocko, but when we do, we have a sitter who stays with him at our home. However, due to a last-minute scheduling conflict our sitter was not available for our last trip . . . What to do? After exhausting all possibilities for homecare, we reluctantly decided to board him. Long story short, we had the extraordinary good fortune of finding Amy (a veterinarian, no less!), and her lovely dog-adoring family. Because of his age, Jocko has a lot of special needs, none of which were a problem for Amy. She gave him meds; let him sleep on her bed; took him out to relieve himself in the middle of the night; gave him slow and gentle walks on the beach; bathed him; and cuddled and coddled him as if he were her own. Plus she made insightful observations and gave very helpful advice on Jocko’s health issues. Ultimately, we felt far more at ease knowing Jocko was in the expert hands and loving arms of Amy than we have when we’ve left him at home with his sitter. We cannot recommend Amy highly or enthusiastically enough. From now on, if and when we have to leave him, she will be our first choice for our doggie's care.

Dudley truly went on a dog vacay. He looked like he has more fun than we did. He went swimming, went fi bike rides and made new friends.
Amy is the best! You couldn't ask for a kinder or more generous host. She stays in touch so well with pics and updates that you almost feel your dog is right by your side. We couldn't have asked for more.
Amy and family are always gracious and welcoming when Abby visits their home. Very accommodating with varying schedules, and Abby obviously has a wonderful time!
As always, we can count on Amy and her family to keep Abby happily engaged while we are away. We feel so fortunate to have met them though DogVacay, knowing that our four legged family member is safe and happy.
Amy and family are wonderful! Our Abby is very excited when we pull up in front of her family's home, and we always receive videos and pictures of the fun goings on while we are away. She is very gracious and flexible with drop off and pick up times. Thank you so much Amy!

We are so comfortable leaving our Abby with Amy and her family.
Abby had another wonderful day with Amy and her family. A walk on the beach and playing with the family dog made certain that Abby was in doggy heaven. :)
Amy was wonderful and her property is a slice of dog heaven. Plus, she's a vet - what better care could you ask for?! Amy sent frequent pictures; we could tell Dixie felt right at home. You certainly won't go wrong booking with Amy.
Amy and Trip are fantastic! They not only were very flexible with our not quite set timing for drop off and pick up, but were gracious hosts to our very busy and extra large dog. Pictures of Abby's time with them were sent as well as messages about extra steps taken to ensure that she was eating. Thank you so much, Amy and Trip!

Amy is absolutely fantastic. It was obvious from the moment we met her that she loves the dogs she takes of as though they were her own. I felt totally confident that my pup wouldn't even miss me...between the attention, the yard, the water, and Amy's dogs, I knew he would be a happy, tired dog when he came home and he sure was! This is one of the only times that I have felt completely at ease leaving him with someone...very highly recommend!

Dogs came home very happy and exhausted. We got several pictures while we were gone, and they definitely got spoiled on their "vacation"!

We can certainly recommend Amy for for a great dog sitting experience, and I suspect our dogs will be back for a repeat visit.

Amy and her family were amazing hosts for our french bulldog Fillmore. Our vacation felt so much better when we knew that he was in good hands while we were away. Amy also shared pictures on a daily basis which made us very happy!

We are so glad that we have found a home for Fillmore when he can't come with us and will for sure ask Amy again next time we are traveling again!

Our dog had a great stay! She got to play with other dogs and get lots of exercise and attention. The host was very accommodating for drop-off/pick-up times as well. I would definitely recommend!
Argus didn't even look back at us as he hopped out of the car to greet Amy's dogs, he was so eager to get there after the meet-and-greet. What can I say? Amy is a vet and her entire family seems to take very good care of their own animals so I can only assume that Argus was privy to the same good treatment. The daily pictures from Amy illustrated as much and made me feel good about knowing what my pup was up to. Everything from playing tug, to sleeping on the floor next to Amy's daughter to taking a jog with her husband. Their house and property are big and there's plenty of space for the dogs to play and run. It's right on the water and they have a private beach front area, so if you have a water dog, he will get to swim and frolic in the water... also good for hot days. Argus slept for the entire (I meant it) day after he came home because he was so exhausted from playing and romping, which is exactly as I like my dog to be when he comes home! They followed food instructions and I'm sure they would follow medical instructions too. Pick up and drop off were easy to arrange via calls and texts. And the day rate was very reasonable. They have two dogs, a guinea pig, chickens, a bird and a cat, which Argus was cool with. You'll meet them on your meet-and-greet and you'll figure out then if your dog can handle all the other creatures. If not, no problem... find another person on DogVacay. If so, great! There were two other dogs there when Argus was and I believe Amy vets all to make sure they have good temperaments. She doesn't take more than, I believe, 2 or 3 at a time, so there are five dogs there, tops, at all times. The space, family, activity level and expert knowledge at hand just make it sort of easy for us. Overall, highly recommended.

Amy and family were the BEST! Hero was so well cared for - he even got to snooze with them! Amy's is the best place to leave your dog while you have a stress free break. She sent photos and videos to my iphone so I knew on the slopes that my dog was fine. It was perfect. THANK YOU!

UTTERLY AMAZING!!! This is my first time using Dog Vacay so, with all new things, I proceeded with a bit of trepidation. Can it really be so picture perfect good? The answer is a resounding YES! We have a very needy Cockapoo who needs a lot of attention. During our greet and meet, it was so apparent that Amy and her family are animal lovers. Their relaxed and happy home is reflected in their own 2 dogs who were just as welcoming as "hosts":). Their home is the perfect setting for dogs who love the outdoors. Our dog, Sofie, didn't take long to settle in with Amy sending us pictures and reassuring words almost immediately after we dropped Sofie off. For 5 days, we were updated with cute pictures and positive comments...it's no surprise how at ease Sofie felt with so much attention, love and hugs. The best and most honest feedback came from Sofie who cried when Amy dropped her off and kept running back to her.
Thank you Amy and family for taking such good care of Sofie:)

Frankie the Dog spent 10 days with Amy and her family, and I can't recommend them highly enough. The whole crew is super-friendly and easy going, they have a couple of canine companions for your dog to play with, a huge property to explore and, on top of it all, she's a veterinarian. Seriously, what else are you looking for? We received a steady stream of updates, pictures and videos – Frankie playing with the dogs, sleeping, cuddling with the kids – it was awesome. She even recommended a couple places to visit on our vacation! They’re a great family, and it was the first time I’ve been on vacation and didn’t worry once about how the dog was doing. Quit searching and send her a note. Your pooch will thank you for it.

Better than a doggie hotel, overnight day care or kennel.

Emma -- an old dog -- got lots of special attention and returned home relaxed, rested and well cared-for.

This host has an exceptional knowledge of dogs' needs, a loving family, and is super helpful and friendly. Also very responsive to pre-reservation inquiries. Recommended wholeheartedly!

Amy and her family are amazing doggy hosts! Our 8 month old lab puppy, who has so much energy and can certainly be a handful, had the best time at their place! We left him at Amy's for an overnight when we were going out for a concert that was going to run late. From the multiple photos and videos that Amy sent us to keep us updated while we were away, we know that he got to play a lot of fetch and just loved running around in their big yard with their family dog and got a ton of attention. We also felt very secure knowing that Amy is a vet and knows dogs inside and out (literally!). This family is so sweet and all the family members were so fabulous with our very energetic pup. He can't wait to go back. Thanks Amy :)

Amy and her family were absolutely incredible with our two rescue dogs. We picked them up last night and they were happy, healthy and we could tell they had a blast. This is the first time we could not use our usual "in home" sitter when we leave town and one of our dogs is a rescue who was abused and has 3 people he has ever trusted to pet him in the 10 months we have had him- Myself, fiance', and our dog walker/sitter. Amy sent us pictures constantly updating us on how they were doing and by the 3rd day, she sent a photo I never thought I would ever see: Her husband and two kids all petting our dog and at the same time! They have a beautiful home and backyard and I could tell our kids had a blast hanging with their wonderful family and two dogs they have. They are such a loving, giving family who really understand dogs, I would recommend them without hesitation!!!
