About Susan

43 Years Experience Caring For Dogs
Note: I love cats and offer cat sitting as well as dog sitting! I’m happy to visit your kitty while you’re away, assuming you are in Chester, but can't keep it at my home due to the resident cats.

I love dogs (and cats!) and would have a house full of them if I could afford it. Being a host gives me the perfect opportunity to love another dog without the expense of owning one! I've fostered dogs in the past for rescue groups. I offer a $5/night discount for dogs who have stayed with me previously for at least two nights, and offer a discount for multiple dogs from the same owner.

To keep the animals safer, my house has a monitored alarm system for fires.

On weekends, I love to take the dogs for walks. I've got several routes mapped out, and can modify the length of walks based on what your pup is used to.

Please be aware that on most weekdays I am gone 10.5 hours for work. I generally work from home one day a week, and I can usually get my neighbor's daughter to put the dogs out after school, but sometimes she's not available. On weekends I rarely leave for more than four hours at a time.

I only take dogs who are fully housebroken, neutered, and up to date on all shots, including bordatella.

Susan was great! Maddox was instantly comfortable and had a great stay! Thank you Susan, we'll be back to visit!
Great job. Thank you.
My puppy stayed with Susan for the day during my son's bday party. It was so nice to get an email with photos letting me know how he's doing. That's very comforting.
Our Lucy has visited with Auntie Susan many times over the last three years. Lucy is a shy dog, but she feels right at home there. We highly recommend Susan! Not only will your pet be well cared for, but he/she will be loved! That has always given us the peace-of-mind not to worry one bit while we are away!

Great experience! Will use again!
Susan is absolutely wonderful! She treats our dog, Lucy, just like one of her own. Lucy feels right at home there and loves playing with Susan's dogs. I absolutely recommend her to anyone. It's nice to go away and trust that our sweet pup is well taken care of!

Susan has great. Very accommodating and had many pets for our dog to play with which is always nice. Our dog came back happy and seemed to be well taken care of.
.
Susan was my go-to dog sitter for Clay while I lived in Richmond. For this most recent visit, I spent a few weeks at Army training and couldn't bring Clay with me. It was so reassuring to know that Clay was in good hands at Susan's. Over the course of the few weeks I was gone, Susan sent me regular updates and even took Clay to the vet for an ear infection (and asked my preference on taking him to the vet first). Clay loved being at Susan's, and she was great with him as always.

Dex came back clean, happy, and looking good. I would recommend Susan to anyone.
Bailey had a truly wonderful time! We were so grateful that she was treated like family while we were out of town. We loved all of the pictures from her trip!! That was such a nice surprise! Thanks for being such a fabulous host!
Susan was great. Samson had a great time with her and she sent pictures of him during his stay. Will use again!
Susan was a great host , she went out of her way to fit my schedule . Mia came home a very happy girl . THANK YOU Susan :)
Susan was an "pawesome" host for my Golden Retriever. I cannot imagine selecting anyone else to care for her while I am away from home. Susan is truly an animal lover and cared for my dog like she was her own.

Being away from my 12 1/2 year old Golden Retriever, I was very comfortable knowing that she was with Susan. Her house was very dog friendly and there were other dogs for mine to socialize with. I received photos as well as videos of her stay with Susan and never had any concern for her safety or well being.

Susan should be your first choice for your next Dog Vacay.

Susan was fantastic. She kept Our Golden Retriever Sebastian for 10 days and I have never felt better about leaving him. I love that he was in a warm home with other pups, outside space to play and with an animal lover to keep him safe and happy. We got updates and videos and know he had a wonderful time. We will definitely be back!

Susan took amazing care of our big baby and handled his size, and goofy personality, in stride. We received many pictures of his stay which really helped me feel much more comfortable. This was the very first time we have used Susan and DogVacay...and I am extremely impressed. Kirby was kept safe and given a lot of love all week. He got to play with Susan's dogs, run in the backyard, and still have humans to cuddle with, play tug of war with, and rub up against. He is not crated, ever, at home...so for us to find a caring person who also didn't crate him...his "vacation" was much better since he couldn't be with his family. He had a much smoother transition from her house back into our house than what he has had from boarding and crate care in the past.

Awesome as always.
Another wonderful stay. Ginger seems very comfortable and at home with Auntie Susan. Loved the cd...got pics & video clips!!!
Susan was great in every way. My dog can be a bit high maintenance (he's a rescue who doesn't always get along with other dogs, some long-ingrained bad behaviors like marking when other dogs are around, some separation anxiety), but Susan handled him like a pro. He had a nice big yard to run around in, and he got along pretty well with Susan's dogs.

In addition to knowing exactly what to do with Clay, Susan was very flexible in terms of working with my schedule in dropping him off and picking him up.

Susan requires that you bring your own food, have all shots logged (and records brought), and to bring paper towels in case there's a mess. She also asks you to bring a bed or crate if your dog sleeps in one and encourages you to bring (non-soft) toys.

Basically, Susan offers all the best parts about Dogvacay instead of traditional boarding.

Another great stay for Ginger. I can't say enough great things about Auntie Susan. She keeps us well informed while we are away with emails and pictures. And it's a real treat for us to come home and go through all the pictures on the cd.
Susan was great! We loved getting a couple of pictures of Ginger while we were away. Ginger didn't interact much with the other animals, but preferred the attention of Susan. Sometimes we wonder if she just thinks she is one of us. We will definitely being using her services again in the near future.

Thanks Susan for letting the dogs have another vacay with you! So nice to know they were having fun and not missing me too much :)
Susan was great. My German Shepherd needs a leader who will be loving but firm with her, otherwise she will dominate and take advantage. Susan was great with her. She has a great setup for the dogs, with a full basement for them and a fenced in yard. I loved the cd I received with photos and videos of my dogs on their vacay, proof that they were getting playtime and attention. Thanks Susan!

Susan was a great host to my dog Muus! I liked the fact that she dedicates her entire spacious basement for the dogs, which has a patio door that leads directly to the fenced-in backyard. And even though she doesn't have a smartphone to send/receive text messages or send pictures, she went the extra mile and took pictures with her digital camera, then manually upload a few through DogVacay, and then burn the pictures onto a disc for me to take home upon pick-up! She is also very economical as well, considering that all returning guest dogs board for $15/night! I was not worry about Muus at all while he was in Susan's care. I would definitely have her care for Muus again in the future and recommend her to other DogVacay users. And coming from me as a "competing" DogVacay host just down the street from her, that's saying a LOT!

Susan is a true lover of our furry friends. During our meet and greet, it was obvious that she has a soft spot for dogs (and cats). As a "pet mom", I was absolutely pleased with the care and attention she provided to my extra needy pooch. I really appreciated and enjoyed her email updates and pictures. She even provided us with a CD capturing those precious moments that we missed. I would definitely use her services again. Highly recommend!

My husband & I highly recommend Susan! We flew to see family over the weekend and when our flight was rescheduled due to weather, Susan was so flexible. She was also very professional & remembered to take all of the necessary information about our dog. We couldn't be happier with Susan and are so glad we found a great place for our dog to stay when we can't take her with us!

Susan is awesome! Another dog and Yoda had an issue and she took care of him and immediately got him to the vet. We've gone to her twice and I can't recommend her highly enough.
Bonny is a shy one person friend and Aunt Susan did an excellent job of taking care of her. A very nice friendly place, Aunt Susans two dogs were well behaved and playful. Thanks to "dogvacay" and Aunt Susan
Thanks again Susan for being so flexible with our schedules! Harley was certainly nice and tuckered out yesterday. Looking forward to doing more business with you! All the best, Chloe & Harold
Wonderful! Susan took great care of Yoda. She sent pictures of him having fun. We can't wait to use her service again knowing our family pet will be in good hands.
Susan is responsive, professional, fair, and a true animal lover. Upon my request, she agreed to a "Meet and Greet" at her home. Our dog loved romping with Susan's two affectionate dogs and immediately felt comfortable exploring her large fenced-in backyard. I was impressed that her entire basement was designed to accommodate her dogs and canine guests.

We later opted to leave our pup with Susan for a day/night trial visit. It was my family's first time away from our dog and I wanted to ensure that they were a mutual match. Susan called me shortly after our departure to inform me that he initiated a chase with her dogs and was having a blast. She also emailed two pictures of him and put us all at ease.

When we arrived to pick our puppy up, he was happily waiting at her front door. After researching and visiting numerous pet boarding facilities, we are pleased that we stumbled across Susan's business and took a chance with DogVacay. We will definitely make future reservations with her. 5 stars all the way!

Susan was a wonderful host to our dear Harley! Just like what was said in past reviews, she sent us home with a disc of photos & videos from Harley's "vacation" which were hilarious to see - and so considerate! We are pleased to say that we have found our go-to contact for anytime we need a dog-sitter in the future :)
Thank you so much Susan!!

If I could give her 10 STARS, I would! Susan has been a wonderful host. We looked into DogVacay for a reasonable host for our labradoodle, Mocha, as we planned to take our kids on a Spring Break drive down to Florida. To start with, we were extremely late in dropping Mocha off due to the unexpected traffic on I-95. Susan had cancelled her plans to be home to meet us at drop-off (4 hours later) {Again, our apologies, Susan.) She was very pleasant. Her home is clean, and definitely pet-friendly. Mocha was well cared-for with Susan. She sent us photos via email. Mocha is on a special diet, and she accommodated us on that. (We brought his food with us.) On pick-up, she was pleasant as always, and she surprised us with a DVD filled with photos and videos of Mocha's "vacation." It was wonderful to see Mocha having a great time with her other pets. Thank you Susan for the wonderful stay our Mocha spent with you and your pets. Thank you for the great tip on taking 301 home, too. That was such a pleasant ride, and it was a beautiful scenic ride home. We highly recommend Susan to anyone and everyone.

Susan really made our dog Scooby comfortable and right at home. He stayed 3 nights and got along very well with her 2 dogs and another visiting dog. As an only dog, Scooby appreciated the canine company and definitely found a home away from home. Susan is great with dogs and very attuned to what Scooby liked. She updated us with pictures and gave us a CD with pictures and videos. You really couldn't ask for a better hostess. Thank you Susan. We wouldn't hesitate to use her in the future.

Susan was so kind and generous to keep Deacon the entire week of Christmas. She sent 2 dvds with photos of Deacon playing, curled up on someone's lap, and sound asleep. I hope Deacon has the opportunity to visit with Susan again!!!!
Susan was warm and friendly and very accommodating. Our dog can be a bit of a challenge, but Susan made her feel at home. The price was very reasonable. Her house is beautiful with a big fenced in backyard. She gave us updates while we were gone and surprised us with a CD of pictures she took of our Chloe while upon our return. I would recommend Susan over and over again.

Susan was a great host to our dog Scooter. While Scooter was in her care, she continuously sent us updates on how he was doing and included lots of pictures. She even made us a video of our little guy. Her two dogs Olive and Raven are so sweet and got along very well with our dog. He had such a good time at Susan’s and we felt relieved to have found Susan to take care of our dog while we were away. We will definitely continue to leave our dog in her care in the future.
