I've returned to Astoria after a few years of living back in my hometown of Chicago! I've had dogs all my life, and most recently, volunteered for a Alive Rescue, a wonderful rescue in Chicago. Our rescue specialized in animals who were overlooked due to their breed and/or needs, and we worked with and trained them to help them find perfect forever homes. I started as a volunteer, and quickly rose to the role of shift leader, responsible for coordinating volunteers and animals on the shift, as well as dealing with potential adopters.
In our apartment, we have a cat named Roxy, who can be selective of the furry friends he makes, otherwise he makes himself scarce. If your pup isn't so fond of cats, we have an upstairs and can keep the cat away during your fur baby's stay. Currently, we don't have a dog, as we lost our 5 year old beagle/boston terrier unexpectedly due to health issues, and we are still pretty heartbroken, although it's 2 years later. We also have two non-furry kids (1 and 6 year old girls) who LOVE dogs. The founder of the rescue even dubbed the 6 year old as the future president of the rescue.
Your pup will pretty much be the star of the show, from tons of pets and snuggles, to walks in the neighborhood and Astoria Park. I'm an at home parent, so your pup will always have an human on hand to tend to his/her needs.
