About Anne

6 Years Experience Caring For Dogs
Hello I am a 26 year old and I have my own dog, Stella who is 6 years old and I can truly say that she has changed my life and taught me more than anything else In my whole life. I never imagined how much it would be to have a dog when I got her, I grew up with cats, dogs, hamsters, fish, snakes and etc but the dogs were outside dogs and I had no concept of the responsibility of really having a dog of your own. That being said, i know how important and how much a part of our family our fur babies truly become. You want to know that while your out of town and having someone dog sit, or having somone come check on your dog or cat, or take them for a walk when you need it, that they are going to take care of your babies like their own. Although Stella is my first dog, I feel I have had a decent variety of experiences that a pet owner can go through that can be diffficiult because ofcourse not every is perfectly well behaved. First off Stella is a blue nose pitbull there is no denying it and that alone right there had made my life with her a very unique experience. Pitbulls have such a bad reputation and I can easily see why, Stella was the most stubborn and wiley puppy Ive ever seen. Ive also seen her live up to her as a "bully" breed, shes stubborn, and hardheaded but that doesnt mean she is anything like the image that is often portayed of pitbulls. I had no idea at first how to deal with her I had never had a puppy before, but luckily Im just a little more stubborn then her and while it was NOT easy, I soon figured out that all it would take was me putting in The time and effort to be consistent with her. I had to make sure to correct her every time she misbehaved, because every time I get lazy about it will only encourage her to believe that next time she might or might not be able To get away with it. Once I figured this out, i woudnt say it became easier but of course eventually she learned her manners, potty training etc. if you told me she would be the way she is now when she was a puppy i wouldnt of believed you. :) but now shes 6 and my hard work has definitely paid off. She grew up with 3 cats and at one point I had 4 roommates who all had dogs, there was 2 pitbulls, a german shepered and 2 mastiffs in the household, shes been around kids and babys of all ages, she went everywhere with me, and that socialization is so important. When Stella was only a puppy she tore a ligament in her knee and needed a $3000 surgery to fix, so i saved up and worked 3 jobs to pay for it. I just couldnt watch her limp forever I had no choice i felt :). After her surgery she still a puppy but she had a cast and I had to keep her in her crate for almost a month for the most part so she could heal properly which was super difficult. She was barely a year old when she got surgery and when she wanted to play she wouldnt limp even a tiny bit but later she would be hurting. She would play and play and play no matter what so i had to be super careful to not let her over work herself or over play. So i do have experience with dogs with hip/mobility problems or giving medication. I have taken Stella to the dog park her whole life and have had good and bad experiences with both dogs and their owners. Of course because stella is a pitbull I have learned that people have either 1 of 2 reactions, either they are terrified of her, tell me she is going to snap one day,etc or they totally love her. (And Stella is quite the character of course she can tell when people are scared or her or dont really like pitbulls and she is so funny she will work extra hard to win them over. She will go out of her way to sit next to them or be extra sweet or whatever and shes good. She can win anyone over eventually lol:) ) I am a total animal lover no matter how big or small your furbaby is whether they are a puppy or not, perfectly well mannered or not. I have learned so much from Stella and still am learning new things all the time or dealing with different issues as time goes by. I would love to pet sit for you and take care of them like they were my own :)
