Pet care experience
I never grew up with a dog, so I always sought to spend time with other people's dogs. As an adult the same stands true! I am 30 years old, working as a full time UX Researcher on a tech design team. I also volunteer at Happy Tails Pet Rescue shelter. Spending time and helping animals has always been, and remains an important part of my life. I prefer to watch your pet while you are traveling (more short term petsitting vs. long term care). For instance: 2x visits/walks per day at 9am + 8pm while you're away for a long weekend. Because I work full-time, watching your pup longterm during the workday is something I don't do. For instance: 1x walk Monday/Wednesday/Friday at 11am for 3 months I do not do. I have 6 years of experience with basic dog training, 15 years of experience pet sitting, house sitting, and dog walking, and a lifetime of experience loving animals. I have worked with special needs, elderly, and hyperactive dogs effectively. Working with such a variety of dogs, I realize that each has varying needs, and I am extremely adept at adhering to those needs and providing high quality of care and attention like they’re my own. I also am a huge cat-lover. I grew up with cats, one of which was very feisty and unpredictable. And now I have two of my own, one is a senior and has special needs and one is a rambunctious young lady who needs tons of stimulation. I volunteer at a cat rescue shelter and have experience with all kinds of cats, and especially knowledgeable about how to modify your cats behavior to decrease stress. I would love to take care of your cats! There's nothing I love more than helping animals; I currently volunteer at an animal shelter helping socialize troubled cats to make them more adoptable, doing feeding/cleaning shift, creating pet profiles and meeting potential adopters. My ultimate goal in life is to decrease the overpopulation of stray pets and shelter pets and get people to adopt from shelters instead of breeders. Eventually I want to have my own foster/shelter center for elderly, handicapped, and troubled pets. I feel confident that my compassion for animals, responsibility, and experience will make me the perfect candidate for your pet care needs! Our dogs love seeing Selene and she takes the time to care for each one. When they don't eat because they miss us when we are gone, she will hand feed them to get them interested in their food again. She went above and beyond when we had a problem with the door lock and she had to arrange for a locksmith to get in. I like to know ahead of time how your dog is on leash, how they are at recall, your dog's size, and any behavioral quirks or issues. These can all help me gauge if I am a good match for your pet. I have a petite stature, but have successfully walked 145 lb dogs and strong breeds. However, I am only comfortable with these sized dogs if they are well-trained on and off leash.
A typical day
I can take your dog on local walks to a park, around the yard, or my favorite-just around the neighborhood. Basically, whatever you and your pup prefer (as long as it doesn't require too much driving).

Because I work full time, I do pet sitting on the side, and not during the workday/work hours. I also typically don't do long-term care. I prefer to watch your pet while you are away.
