I am a veterinary assistant at a local animal hospital and a former animal shelter worker with 3 years of experience, from 2012 to 2015, caring for homeless dogs and cats of just about every breed under the sun, in addition to rabbits, guinea pigs, rats, mice, other small mammals, and birds. I have worked with animals of every temperament imaginable, from extremely shy to high-energy and out-going, and have made it my personal objective to treat every animal with the utmost patience and loving care.
I also have taken a number of different pet-sitting jobs for friends and family over the last few years and can provide once-or-twice daily checks for feeding, watering, and potty-time, as well as overnight care in your own home. I prefer to stick to an established schedule that your pet is already used to as much as possible in order to minimize any stress during their time away from you, but I can also take your pet to the park or to the dog park provided they are up to date on vaccines.
I have experience through my work at the animal shelter in caring for animals with certain dietary or basic medical needs. I can administer oral and topical medications as well as injections administered under the skin. I have not had training administering IV or intra-muscular injections.
I have no breed restrictions but require a meet-and-greet with dogs before-hand to ensure that I will be accepted into your dog's home. I can work with dogs with moderate aggression to other dogs but not with dogs who are aggressive with people.
Unfortunately, my work schedule makes it impossible for me to provide day-time care within your home four days out of the week. I am at the clinic eleven hours a day, four days a week. I can still provide overnight care within your home as well as once- or twice-daily checks for feeding, watering, and potty-time/litter box scooping.
