About Melissa

26 Years Experience Caring For Dogs
I have had cats and dogs ALL of my life, taken in wild rabbits, birds, chipmunks, squirrels and turtles that ended up in my yard or pool. The majority of my animals have lived EXTREMELY long lives- the oldest cat was 22 and my oldest dog is currently 16. Both of my dogs are beyond friendly they believe anyone who visits my home is there to play with them and will give kisses freely. I have dealt with major illnesses, medications, from emptying the bladder from a partially paralyzed cat to maintaining wound care with heat compresses and antibiotics and chest massages due to terminal illness when my 14 year old dog was struggling to breathe (this practice that I learned from my vet gave my beloved Harley and extra 6 months with her brother and I). Ultimately the time came where I knew in my heart that it was time for her to cross the Rainbow Bridge. I knew she knew how loved she was and my dogs have had the luxury of running free on an acre of open land, chasing frogs around the pool, swimming or just lying on the top step of the pool to cool off, sleeping on couches, beds, dog beds, earning treats, learning new tricks and acclimating to many other dogs I have taken in, rescued or cared for while friends were away. I have trained many dogs on Invisible Fence- no matter what age and they have free run of the house (unless not completely potty trained). I often make home made dinners for my dogs rather than give them "processed food" and have even spoon fed dogs natural baby food or any other food to help them learn control in their eating habits. I keep baskets of toys inside and outside and there is plenty of napping space including a queen size pull-out couch (but most end up sleeping on my bed or all beds are set up in my room so I can watch over them at night).

MEET & GREETS ARE MANDATORY- It is crucial that your pups meet my two and that they have a chance to wander and become familiar with my home and feel comfortable with me and my dogs. I recommend short stays before longer stays are reserved to ensure everyone comfort and happiness. Confirmation the day before a Meet and Greet is imperative as I allocate my time rather precisely in order to accommodate any and all other clients or "Stay-cation" bookings.

PLEASE NOTE: AND COMMUNICATIONS AFTER 10PM will be returned the next morning- I am usually up at 5AM as well as many time during the night if any of my guests can not make it through the night without a potty break.

Booking should be 4-7 days prior but if it is a repeat client we are familiar with exceptions can be made.

The best moment is a big sloppy kiss- I know my guest pups have had a happy experience!!!!!!!!!!

NOTE******* if a pup will be staying beyond 12 noon on pick up day- I charge a "daycare charge" - I will provide a separate quote for the extra "day".

Any grooming need are on an as needed basis.... I am more than happy to clip nails, bathe and trim as I did for my 14 year old "baby" and still do for both my pups - I was not comfortable with groomers after a bad experience and found once the pups were more comfortable with me and living with me that they were much more tolerant of any "beauty treatments"....... I am very patient with them and know that hate all the fuss and muss..... it may take a day or two, but if they need some TLC I am more than happy to provide it. Know your pup will be loved and treated as if this they were my own and spoiled.... it is often a very difficult adjustment for a pup to "out of their element and comfort zone".....

Maggie was exceptionally taken care of at AllFurLuv! Melissa was wonderful. She sent lots of pictures, and made sure that we were up to speed on how Maggie was doing when we were away. Melissa will be the first person we call if we ever need to go out of town again.
Melissa speaks dog. We had apprehensions about leaving our five month old pet with her. She asked all the right questions, anticipated our needs, and assured us that she would be able to communicate both to us and to our puppy. We think that is extraordinary!
Our guy loved his stay with Melissa. He'll be back. Thanks you
It's clear Melissa loves dogs and the dogs love her! The best part is her own dogs and the other dogs she takes in are as sweet as yours so you never have to worry about whether your dog will be comfortable in her home. Thank you Melissa!
Sadie, my dog, is not the easiest, but Melissa was great with her. She kept me informed and Sadie came home happy and well cared for.
Excellent care and kept in contact with me the whole time!
By the behaved of our dog when we went to pick her up, I am sure she couldn't fell more at home than in Melissa's place. Usually, our dog rushes to the car when we leave her somewhere for some days, but yesterday she just wanted to run around the house and play with Melissa's dog.

Our dog stayed in melissa for 5 nights and Melissa kept us updated with pictures and reports of her doings. Unexpectedly, our dog refused to poop outside, and Melissa, gracefully, managed that without bothering us.

I can only thank Melissa and ask for her to excuse our dog for not behaving as expected, regarding pooping. We felt very safe with Melissa taking care of our dog.
Melissa was very accommodating and Sandy loved playing with Melissa's dog, Dakota!
Due to a recent hip injury and long work hours - I have been unable to get my dog the exercise and attention he needs. I found Melissa who was very responsive from the start, and have been bring Spencer weekly for daycare. It has been fantastic! Spencer comes home happy and exhausted from a day of play with Melissa's dog Dakota. Melissa has been beyond accomodating of my varying schedules (early morning and late nights) and keeps in contact throughout the day which is great for any furry parents who are hesistant to leave their dog with someone they don't know well.

This has been an incredible alternative to commercial daycare - I HIGHLY reccommend using Melissa for your dog care needs.
Wonderful experience for me and my 2 dogs!
Melissa Loves Dogs! She took such great care of my Golden. The house is just ready for doggy visits. Melissa would send updates with a picture. Cute! Happy to know she is in the Stamford area as I travel to that area. Thank You Melissa
This was my first time leaving my dog with a sitter - and it was for 2 weeks! Melissa quickly made me feel at ease with lots of text updates and several fun photos and videos of my little Annie! I was able to not worry and enjoy my honeymoon, and my dog came home totally relaxed, happy - and just LOVES Melissa. I will definitely book another vacay with her!
I was so nervous to leave my dog Remy for the first time, but she was so well taken care of and she had a blast. I love that Melissa sent us pictures and updates. It completely put my mind at ease. I know we made the right choice with Melissa and I wouldn't hesitate to use her again and again.
Melissa and Dakota were awsum! Seems our dog had great time with them. He enjoys swimming and Melissa made sure he swims everyday. She kept sending us regular updates with pics and videos and it made us feel as if we are with our dog. She gets up early and that was a big plus!!
Melissa was fantastic! She loved our puppy so much that Chloe has an extended family now. Chloe was there for 3 weeks and we couldn't say enough about how wonderful Melissa treated her. We got regular updates with pictures. Chloe played all day long with Melissa's puppy Dakota (who is a gem!). Melissa has a large secluded back yard for them to run around. They got along so well. Melissa treated Chloe with so much warmth and love it was absolutely amazing. In the end, Chloe walked away with a stash of toys (generously given by Melissa) and recommendations of Chloe's favorite dog bed, treats, toys.... etc. I highly recommend Melissa. I will definitely bring Chloe back even if it's for a day to play!
Melissa was wonderful with my dog Gordon. And her two pups were wonderful with him as well!!!!! He is a very old lab with a weak hind end and i was so worried about leaving him with anyone. The personalized attention extended to her SPOON FEEDING him when he was reluctant to eat, grinding his meds into his food, and jumping into the pool fully clothed when he decided to take a swim and could not get up the stairs. It is taking him some time to readjust to home life, as I think he misses his buddies and all of the attention Melissa showered on him. I felt so relieved while we were away when I saw the pictures she would send me of Gordon, living large at sleep away camp! I am booking a three week stay in September and will not lose a minute of sleep worrying about our pup!
