Welcome to my home!
Our family provides cage free in home boarding and daycare for your furry family. Promoting peace of mind as well as safety, comfort, affection, and socialization while you are away. We are a family of Stay at home Mom, Military/engineer Dad and an energetic 12 year old son as well an extra “handler on hand” Sarah. Our furry family consists of a friendly and affectionate Great Dane and an emergency backup Chihuahua! :]
My History.
All of my life I was fortunate enough to have had at least one and more often multiple dogs in my home. I was probably eight when I started competing in obedience trials and never looked back. My family and friends and even neighbors have come to accept this has always been my calling. As younger adult I was always looking for ways to know more about all of the breeds and sizes of dogs. Now as a stay at home Mom I am finally able to open my warm family home up to provide a safe loving environment for all of those breeds to come relax and visit.
Welcome to my home!

Nice to meet you :)
Introduction and evaluation to make absolutely sure you and your baby feel like our family will be a good fit for their temporary stay. He or she must be ok with my son ( who knows and loves all dogs as much as I do.) I am not breed specific. I do require up to date parvo distemper and rabies shots and MUST be NEUTERED/SPAYED.

Are you comfortable administering medication?
Having a 25 year history of dogs, I have had extensive experience with all kinds of medical occurrences, and am right at home with any size or breed of dog. (I also have a couple tricks up my sleeve that make them not even know it happened :)
How much time do you plan on spending with my dog each day?

With few exceptions, there is always a family member or partner in the house. In the event there are no humans for more than an hour I have video and sound access from my mobile and tablet. I have been stopped more then once at the grocery store by a stranger inquiring why I have stopped mid-way down the aisle, and appear to be checking in on my living room :)

Where will my dog sleep?

Wherever he chooses to :) We find guests like their own personal open crates at night but they have 1200 square feet of hardwood, carpets, dog beds sofas and beds to choose from, or we open spaces for personal crates, as well as low play pens for the smaller, older or injured babies in the great room.

Where will you take my dog on walks? Tell me about it.

My community is surrounded and lined with miles and miles of bike paths, adjacent to a high and middle school with wide open fields, as well as access to two local dog parks, and a private Hilton Head beach that is dog friendly.

Always the best, my dog loves to go there.
Barb is AMAZING!! She was more than willing to take in our THREE labs (which can be quite the challenge!!). They are used to all kinds of love, attention and exercise at home-- and Barb, along with her family, gave them just that and more! Our girls were so happy when we picked them up and more relaxed than they have ever been after a weekend away from us. I can not say enough wonderful things about her! I have never felt so comfortable leaving my babies- I don't think they even wanted to come home! She is wonderful and we can't wait to go back!

Barb was absolutely amazing with our dog. We had a meet and greet before she watched her and you could tell right away that she knows her stuff. She is very knowledgable about dogs and not only watched Rosie but was able to provide us with some really helpful training tips. We would highly recommend her.

Sasha came back happy and healthy. She liked being in a home environment that was stimulating and fun but not chaotic and overwhelming. She liked having the run of the house and her choice of beds, and her daily walk. She did miss having to give up her daily chews (pigs ears and bully sticks) with the explanation that the dogs would fight over them. She was given her monthly medicine I provided. I appreciated the Facebook photos although I couldn't find very many--maybe problems with the iPhone. We'd be glad to use Barb again, especially now that we've gone through the initial evaluation, which did take a bit of time to set up, partly because of the professional way Barb handles introducing the dogs to the home and each other.

My dog had a wonderful stay at Barb's. Although she has special needs, she came back looking healthier and happier than after any other boarding experience.
While Kyla, at age three, is trying very, VERY hard to be a good dog, it isn't easy for her. She's high energy and she's a dog that wants a human near at all times--preferably me.

As a rescue, she had a rough start, and she's worked hard to overcome it. I was hesitant to leave her at a regular boarding facility, because at some point, the dogs are in kennels and all the people go home. I didn't want her back in a situation that so closely mirrors her shelter experience.

She's been doing some day care at A Dog's Life to get ready for her long weekend there, and I have to say, she came home tonight healthy, happy, and completely exhausted. Total success. She was very happy to see me, but not frantic, as she might easily have been. It was obviously a good weekend for her.

Barb does an excellent job of providing a safe, interesting environment for her boarders. I highly recommend her to anyone that wants something outside the box for their dog. I've been in and out enough to know that what she's doing really works well for every dog that comes through her door. They're all happy to be there.

I can't say enough wonderful things about Roxy's stay with Barb! I was panicked to leave her anywhere because of her "high energy" and need for constant activity! Not to mention the fact that others I interviewed just weren't a good fit. She is the sweetest dog but she loves loves loves to be busy..very busy!
From my very first conversation with Barb I knew she would be perfect. When we had our first meeting it just confirmed what I already knew...she would take excellent care of my baby. By our 2nd visit I had no doubt that I would have a worry-free vacation and Roxy would have a great experience.
Barb kept me informed with notes and pics of Roxy's day and adventures wither new friends. She always looked super happy which made me happy.
Barbs superior knowledge and love of dogs is evident in everything she does. I will never worry again when I have to go away as long as Barb is available to watch my precious Roxy!!!!!

Barbara took care of our toy poodle for a week. We do not like to leave our dog with anyone but after meeting her and visiting her home we left him knowing he would be as well taken care of as he is at home. It was a relief to find someone so knowledgeable and caring. I will recommend her to everyone. We picked up our little dog and he was healthy and happy -- we think he hated to leave her!. I did review the November stay for Cricket. As I said before we are so pleased with Barb Driver & would not hesitate to leave Cricket with her and will refer our friends who have dogs to her.
She's really in tune with the animals and I know Cricket is excited to be there with his doggy friends.

Dana, our Great Pyrenees felt at home straight away with Barb and her dogs and we could enjoy our vacation knowing she was in very capable hands .In fact when we picked her up she was in no hurry to leave .We think she really enjoyed her stay and had a vacation as well.
We really loved receiving an email daily with a picture of Dana having fun with her new friends.
We highly recommend 'A Dogs Life Boarding' and will definitely be using Barb's services again.

I boarded my dog Cricket with Barb Driver in November & again in January. I am so pleased with her facilities and with the care Cricket gets. She is so tuned in to the animals and he really enjoys his stay. Barb sends me photos throughout the week to show me how he's doing. Cricket is looking forward to his next stay in February & seeing Barb & all his doggie friends. My husband & I are completely at ease when we leave him.

I searched for months trying to find the perfect place to leave my Great Dane while my family and I vacationed. I found kennel after kennel and was not thrilled about leaving my dog locked in a cage for 7 days. Then, by some miracle, I found Barb. After a brief phone conversation she and I set up a time for her to come meet my dog, Josie. The meet and greet went great and Josie was all set to spend a week with Barb and her family in her home. At Barbs home, Josie was able to have nearly the same comfort level as being home with us. She had playmates galore, plenty of places and space to sleep, she was on her own feeding schedule, she got walked everyday, had a large backyard to play in, and lots of people to show her affection. Barb is beyond wonderful and we will never consider leaving Josie with anyone else.

Another phenomenal experience! It is the biggest comfort while we are away to know that our little one is in such wonderful hands. And when we get there to pick him up, he is always freshly bathed and she has all of his stuff packed and ready by the door. Barb is so organized and funny and just totally "gets" Bruno's personality. We couldn't be happier.

When I thought about leaving our 1 year old puppy, Hoss, alone for 7 days, I had a hard time imagining it. My fiance and I left Hoss for 8 hours at a doggie daycare and the experience wasn't terrible, but it wasn't great.. They seemed to be inconvenienced by my call to check in on him even after I had explained it was the fist time he was being left in such a place and the first time he was around so many other dogs. When we picked him up and took him outside to the car, he immediately began urinating and it lasted well over a minute. I was very upset.. It made me think that maybe they took him outside when we left for show and that he was left alone in the block the rest of the day. Needless to say, we wanted to make sure that Hoss would go to only the best for an entire week! Luckily, my fiance and I met Barb! From the very fist phone call, it was made clear to me that not only was Barb licensed and extremely knowledgeable, she really enjoyed taking care of dogs. She understood all of my worries about leaving my baby and put them all to rest rather quickly. Barb was very professional and set up an assessment of Hoss in our home. She explained the importance of meeting him where he is comfortable and stress free! From the moment she walked in, I knew that we were going to have a wonderful experience! After the assessment, Barb had us bring Hoss to her home to allow him the chance to explore it and meet the other members of her family; human and animals. I was delighted to see the large yard, numerous water fountains and baskets of toys! Barb introduced us to the other dogs one by one and assured us that she only takes in dogs that are friendly with others! When we went to drop Hoss off for our trip, he ran right in the house and didn't even look back! My fiance and I didn't even make it home yet and Barb sent us pictures of Hoss happily playing with the other dogs! As if I wasn't already at ease from our first two play dates, the pictures settled everything! We had the most amazing experience with Barb and plan on taking Hoss (and hopefully another puppy soon!) back for daycare often! I was happy to see all of the positive socialization that took place and how Barb really cared for Hoss. I would strongly recommend Barb to anyone who has to leave their baby or is looking for a little play time!

I had Barb take care of our two dogs for 9 nights while we were away, and had a FABULOUS experience. I have an older dog, and was no longer comfortable leaving my dog in a kennel, since he needs some extraTLC in his old age. Barb sent us pictures every day of our dogs life in her care, which comforted us to see them doing so well. Both of our dogs came home looking and smelling great. Barb is a real professional dog caretaker, and we will definetly be taking our two dogs back.

My husband and I are the kind of dog parents who drive 3.5 hours to leave lil' guy with my mom because we don't trust him with anyone else ... THEN WE DISCOVERED BARB!

From the moment I walked into the Meet-n-Greet, I knew that Barb was something special. She treats every dog under her care with the utmost consideration, care, and respect. She is not just attentive to their walks and meal times, but also to their personal anxieties, individual personality quirks, adjustment to the other dog personalities in the room, etc. It is evident when you spend time with Barb that she finds so much pure joy, fun, and goodness in each animal. She is just simply brilliant at what she does!

She also sent us daily updates and photos with hilarious captions, which I looked forward to every day (as well as the daily story on her Facebook page!)

Whenever I'm concerned about this thing or that thing about Bruno, I've found there are so many people in the world (even dog owners) who will say: "He's/she's fine! It's just a dog!" But Barb understands that dogs are amazing little spirits with feelings and emotional needs. It seems dramatic to say, but I feel truly blessed to have found her!

Barbara took such amazing care of our Charlie-Brown. She loves dogs and understands them and that you realize when you first see Barbara with her dogs. She is also a dog whisper with her wisdom of dog behavior. We went away with complete ease knowing our dog was in great hands.

Barb provides internet pictures to help the dog parents to not feel so lonesome for their babies. This also helps the owner to see that their dog is being cared for properly.

Our Buffy seemed to really care for Barb and enjoyed playing with the other dogs.

I had a wonderful experience with Barb and her care of my pup. She frequently communicated with me and send photos of my pup and all the fun she was having with Barb's other pup-guests and Barb's family too. I highly recommend her!
I booked with Barb for a week of doggie daycare and was so excited to see how well it went! She does this because she loves it, not to simply make money. As a result, she never takes on too many clients and is able to ensure that each pet gets all the love and attention they need. My dog was excited to go every day and exhausted when she came home, which was a relief as someone with a full-time job who can't always give her the play time she wants. I was very pleased with her approach and how knowledgable she was.

Well I don't want to say anything good because then Barb will get more customers and we will have a harder time getting Sushi in. So it is with some reluctance that we give her an outstanding grade.

We think Sushi thinks Barb's house is a second home. It's just a more relaxed experience.

After the meet and greet with Barb I was more comfortable leaving Chloe because I knew she would be well taken care of.
Before we left her there we were able to visit and meet her new friends.
During her stay we received several pictures from her where we could see her play, eat, sleep. It was nice to see.
You can easily get in contact with her and she always keeps you informed even if you are out of the country.
When we went to pick Chloe up we noticed that she was calm and relaxed.
Thanks Barb for your wonderful job!

Barb is a life-saver!! For me and my precious little baby, Crash - and EVERY precious baby I've met at Barb's!! Barb is the "Doggie Whisperer"!! Barb speaks...they all listen & obey!! Her home & backyard garden are warm, inviting, CLEAN and open for all the precious babies to play & relax. Barb also gives each baby special one-on-one time - which they all love! My Crash squirms & gyrates in my arms like a deliriously happy maniac when he realizes he's going to Barb's ("Auntie's" - as we call her!) Thank you from the bottom of my heart, "Auntie", for saving my job! I wouldn't have accepted the position if my only other option was to put Crash in a cage every day. We are so blessed to have found you and the wonderful home you have created -
for your family, and for mine!! Love, love, love!!

Best Dogsitter in the world!!! this was the second time i left my dog, June with her. I can tell that my dog is loving the stay with Miss Barb every time. June was recently diagnosed with LOD which is a illness that affects her auto immune system and is on different medication (its not contagious, its like a type of lupus). Miss Barb kept up with the medication on time and even did the epsom salt bath for her that i asked for. June literally had a spa evening with her lol :)
I already made my next reservation with her to board June.

Barb was so accomodating when we asked if she would be able to keep Odin another night. I could not be happier with the care she gave our boy! After I picked him up, I didn't know if he was exhausted from his fun filled weekend or depressed because he had to leave the new friends he made!! We are so glad we found this service and WILL MOST DEFINITELY use Barb again, as well as refer as many new clients as we can WITH the stipulation that WE get first dibs on time slots though! *smile*

I am SOO glad that I found Barb on this site! She sent lots pictures of my boy having a wonderful time at her house over the weekend which allowed us to enjoy ourselves on our trip. The whole family was able to have a vacation and lots of "play" time. He also wasn't coughing when I picked him up, which is what always happened when we boarded him at the kennel. As long as Barb allows Odin to stay with her, she will ALWAYS be our first choice!! If I could give her more than 5 Stars I would! I would HIGHLY recommend her to anyone who is picky about who they leave their furbaby's with!! Thanks again for treating Odin so wonderfully!!

Always the perfect vacation for Alfie - he has a wonderful time, and we know he is given the finest of care and a lot of lovin'! Barb is the best!!
Barb is fantastic. We went through a mutual interview process where she met our dog and we met her. We liked her immediately but the proof was when we picked up our golden retriever Shayna and saw how happy she was. It is so reassuring to know we have someone we can trust to leave our "baby" with when we travel. Barb emailed some adorable pictures for us to enjoy while we were gone. It is apparent she loves what she does and really enjoys the dogs. I know Shayna will look forward to many return stays to see her new boyfriend Turk!!!

Our 5 year old Emme was sheltered before she came to us. She was not comfortable with other doggies nor was she ever boarded. When Barb came to our home for the meet & greet both she and Emme became fast friends. We visited our hosts home and found it to be well kept, immaculalely clean and very comfortable for the boarders. Emme spent 4 days last week at Barb's vacation home with a number of other dogs. True to form Barb showed her how to share her space and to interact with the other babies. Thanks to Barb Emme was well fed and comfortable and she was kept physically fit each day by her long walks with Barb. The pictures Barb fed to us of Emme while we were away were teriffic. Emme came home rested and content. We are very commfortable leaving Emme in Barb's care again. As a matter of She will be vacationing at Barb's for another 5 days the end of this month while we fly off to another wedding. We have highly recommended Barb D. to our friends with doggie babies. They are enthusiastic about the fact that the dogs will be boarded in a private home by a special caring person. We are very fortunate to have found you Barb. Thank you.

This was my first experience using Dogvacay, and I definitely hit the jackpot when I found Barb!
Her understanding of her furry guests, and their owners, is both immpressive and reassuring!
Barb took the time to come to our home to introduce Turk, her Great Dane, to Hamish, our much much smaller, fairly shy 5lb Yorkie! She wanted to make sure they accepted each other, before accepting our booking! Although he was the smallest visitor, Hamish fit in perfectly to Barbs very comfortable, friendly home! I also loved the pictures and updates of the daily antics of Hamish and his fellow house guests, and it definitely helped us relax and enjoy our vacation, knowing Hamish was in good hands! Hamish definitely enjoyed his Dogvacay with Barb!

I am new to this type of service. With that being said, Barb is awesome! She stepped in to help us when we were in a jam. We needed to leave for a family engagement in Philadelphia at the last minute. She was willing to meet with our Jack Russell, Roscoe at her house. She introduced her fabulous Great Dane, Turke to Roscoe so that both would be able to get along with no problems. It went very smoothly because Barb is very experienced with all breeds of dogs. I was able to stay for an hour to help Roscoe with his transition. It went great. It didn't take long for Roscoe to feel at home. Throughout his stay, she updated us with photos and field trips they went on. He was spoiled rotten and made many new "doggie" friends. I will definitely use Barb's services again. I just wish she was a little closer to where I lived. But it was worth the 45 minute drive. Her house is clean and very dog friendly. Barb loves her job and it shows. I would highly recommend anyone to allow their dog to stay with Barb at her house!

Barb is hands down the best dog sitter my husband and I have ever had the pleasure of dealing with. Not only is she professional, Barb is 100% deticated to ensuring everyone (owner/pet) is comfortable. We will most certainly never take our dog anywhere else again when we take trips. Barb took the best pictures of our Mishka, promptly sent them daily, she showed her the love we do, and comforted her as only a dog lover can. Our stardards were high and Barb managed to truly go above and beyond. Her home is lovely, well kept, organized and quite the dog heaven for any pooch. We are very thankful to have had this experience and look forward to everytime in future when mishka will be with Barb and her beautiful family.

If there was a five star rating to give, Barb would get a ten!!! I cannot say enough!!! I can go anytime, anywhere, and know that the dogs are in terrific hands ... and having more fun than at home!!!! Thank you Barb...you are the True Dog Whisperer!!!"

Barb's the best! The puppies loved their vacation and will come again!
