About Vanessa

10 Years Experience Caring For Dogs
I work from home and I am currently offering Dog Boarding, Dog Daycare and Dog Running Services with my company and I am looking forward to adding Full and Half Day Hiking trips as well! I live right by the beach and take dogs on jogs whenever I can get away from the computer!

Your dog will love coming to stay at my house. We have lots of toys, live right near dog parks and have playtime - ALL DAY. I take my guest dogs with me on my daily See Spot Run LA runs whenever possible. We also make trips to the Dog Beaches, Dog Parks and Hikes in the Santa Monica Mountains and Malibu!

Our Furlosophy at See Spot Run LA

Here at See Spot Run we believe that a tired dog is a happy dog.

Is Buddy bouncing off the walls? Or is it time Fido dropped a few pounds? Going for walks is fine, but most dogs want – and need – more. They want to run. That’s where See Spot Run comes in.

How Running Benefits Your Dog

- YOUR DOG HAS FUN!
- Promotes weight control
- Provides stress relief
- Drains excess energy
- Improves physical health: heart, lungs, muscle
- Develops mental focus and provides mental stimulation
- Helps prevent disease
- Improves joint stability

It is our goal to improve the overall quality of your dog’s life through consistent exercise. We believe that with our help, your dog can be on his way to leading a more healthy, happy and balanced life. We know that busy schedules make it hard to find the time to give your dog the exercise he needs and deserves. We are here to help!

Dog Running
What we Do

- In-Home Consultation – We will meet with you and your dog to assess both your needs and those of your dog. We want you both to feel completely comfortable with the dog runner! We realize that a dog is more than a pet; it is a member of the family. It is our job to treat your dog like a part of our family.

- Customized Fitness Program – We will create a customized fitness program that is tailored to your dog’s ability. Not all dogs start out logging lots of miles or running at full speed. Our goal is to improve your dog’s health

Each session will start with a warm up walk, which will progress into a jog/run and end with a cool down walk. The session lasts approximately 60 minutes. If at any time we detect signs of dehydration, fatigue or overexertion in your dog we will stop immediately. Running sessions start and end at your home. We will provide different routes to keep your dog’s attention and ensure as much stimulation as possible.

- Pick-up – We will pick up your dog at your home – we come to you!

- Water & Treats – We will provide your dog with water & treats before, during (water only) and after the run.

- Daily Paw Report – You will get a detailed account of your dog’s daily run, including length, time, and how your dog behaved that day. We will keep track of your dog’s progression so that you are able to see the health & fitness improvements in your pet.

UPDATE as of 4/1/14 In reference to the review left by Melissa H.

I work from home as a property manager. There will be times I will have to leave my apartment as I do need to run errands and tend to tenant needs.

Rupert and Dodger are rambunctious, playful Boston Terriers - they will wrestle and play as most dogs do. They are not aggressive dogs as you can see with my other reviews. If you are not comfortable with your dog playing and wrestling, I can understand that my dogs might not be the best vacation-mates for your dog.

Your dogs diet/medicine/special requests will be followed to the letter. I make sure to feed them separately from my guys (if requested) and have not had any heath or dietary issues of any other dogs that have stayed in my care.

Tank is included amongst the pictures within my profile as one of the great dogs that have visited our home for a vacation.

I will definitely bring my pup back to Vanessa. She was bright & cheery and provided a warm, welcoming home for my dog while I was away. This was my first time using dogvacay and it was a great experience with a wonderful host.
Suzy had her very first visit with Vanessa and came back the happiest lil girl in the world!! I travel for work a lot and have experienced a lot of babysitters in the venice area. Vanessa sent me pictures everyday to show how Suzy was getting along. The pictures were amazing and Vanessa's dogs and Suzy got along so well. Vanessa even gave Suzy a bath AND dropped her off after the visit which was amazing after a long journey home. I never even knew that was an option but she offered and was so wonderful at communicating while I was working in another country. Suzy will 100% be going back to stay with Vanessa ! So very grateful my little girl was treated so well. Thanks Vanessa!! :)

This was my first time having to leave my dog Jackson with someone who wasn't a friend or relative and it could not have worked out better. He normally struggles with separation anxiety but he had a blast at Vanessa's ... I would highly recommend her!

Vanessa was an awesome host & we could tell our dog had a great time staying with her. She sent several photos & kept us updated while we were away, so we were able to relax with the peace of mind that our dog was in good hands. We would definitely recommend her!

It has been over a month since our first & only experience we have had with DogVacay. Needless to say, it was a traumatizing, yet learning experience for us.

We decided to use Vanessa after reviewing her profile, which stated, most importantly to us, that she provided 24 hour care with premium insurance in case anything happened to our Tank, (a 7 month old French Bulldog pup), in addition she provided drop off/pick up service, which we needed. Before committing to the arrangement, we went over to Vanessa’s house to do a "meet & greet" so we could check out the environment in which Tank would be staying, as well as, introduce Tank to Vanessa & her 2 Boston Terriers, Rupert & Dodger. Although we never met Rupert, because Vanessa kept him in her bedroom both times we came over, Dodger & Tank seemed to hit it off well, playing with each other the short duration we were there. After going through our due diligence with Vanessa, we decided to use her services.

When we dropped off Tank at Vanessa’s place, he was in perfect health. When we returned from our trip & got him back four days later he had bite marks all over his neck, some so raw is was still discharging puss and blood. I didn’t notice these wounds when she dropped him off because his fur was covered in what I thought was saliva from the other dogs & him playing. After I gave him a bath, I noticed the wounds more clearly and got really concerned, so I called Vanessa only to receive her voicemail, although we communicated through text thereafter. I immediately called the Dogvacay contact line to report the incident. Furthermore, throughout the night, Tank woke up 7 times having to potty, only to discover each time he went he had Diarrhea. Not only was I waking up every hour to take Tank outside to use the bathroom, but now I felt an urgent need to take him to the doctor. I didn’t contact Vanessa regarding this since I was already in contact with Dogvacay, but we were now concerned on the treatment he received while in Vanessa’s “24 hour care”. We gave strict instructions on his eating regimen which consists of homemade meals that we prepared in advance which was supposed to be all he was allowed to eat other than a few snacks which we also prepared and provided.

After seeing our vet, she advised us that the wounds on his neck were due to excessive, aggressive non-stop playing & possible negligence from whomever was watching over Tank. In regards to his diarrhea, they tested a stool sample & it was read positive for Colitis, which was contracted while he was in Vanessa's care. In addition, the doctor also found traces of blood in his stool indicating that his colon was inflamed. This was disturbing to hear since Vanessa never mentioned that he was having diarrhea, which makes me question if she was watching Tank at all.

We would not recommend this service for a puppy or a smaller dog that is not used to being away from home. We do not believe the service Vanessa provided was “24 hour care”, it would be more equivalent to her leaving our puppy in a secure yard/home with her two Boston Terriers while they "played" unsupervised for how ever long they were left.

This service may be valuable for a larger, adult dog that can handle being alone with two dogs if they tried to tag team on him/her, & is also used to being away from their owner(s) & home for long periods of time, but it's not for us.

Please use with extreme caution.

Vanessa was great with our pups Beanz and Ernie. She was very flexible with drop off and pick up times and sent updates! They stayed with her for 5 days and would definitely have her watch them again!
Vanessa was great as always. Squid loves his time with her, Rupert and Dodger.
Vanessa was a great host and took good care of my little guy. She kept me updated on how he was doing with texts and pictures and when I picked him up he didn't want to leave. Will definitely work with her again!
Vanessa was an awesome host! Our dog, Frankie, had a blast staying at Vanessa's over X-mas. Based on our meet-n-greet, we knew that Frankie's stay was going to be a non-stop play time based on everyone's energy level! She was very accommodating with our early flight schedule and sent us video messages of Frankie playing. We couldn't have been happier with the experience and would recommend Vanessa to anyone looking for a sitter. Rupert and Dodger are awesome playmates!

Vanessa is pawesome! We use her for "dog runs" (not just dog walks!) and Rocky and Rambo love her. It's great exercise so they are peaceful at home.
Three cheers for Vanessa! She was highly communicative throughout the process, has a wonderful environment for the dogs on 'vacay' to play, and has a clear passion for dogs and dog care. Pepper got plenty of attention, exercise and love, and came home a happy pup. Thanks, Vanessa!

Jake had another great stay with Vanessa and her two Bostons! Vanessa sent me a video clip of some of Jake's playtime during his stay, and it was almost hard to get him to leave once I returned.
Vanessa is great! We have used her a few times now and she is always happy to help us out, gives Pebbles lots of love and attention & gives US peace of mind.
Oscar had a great time with Vanessa and her dogs, Rupert and Dodger. He's been sleeping since I picked him up which only means he had lots of exercise and play time! He's already booked for his next slumber party!
Vanessa was the perfect host for my dog, Jake. She was very communicative, sending me photos of him playing with her own dogs throughout his stay. And after picking Jake up after his week-long stay at Vanessa's house, he was insanely tired—a tell-tale sign of a week of attention and playtime. Will definitely be using Vanessa again!
