I have loved animals since I was a small child. I was the child who would bring home all types of domestic and wild animals to try to keep as pets. I would have a small zoo if I had the space.
Dogs are my favorite animal! My husband and I love dogs. We have small dogs so we try to work with families of mostly small dogs. We usually will keep 2 guests or 3 if they are all from the same family. My husband and I provide care in our home for your dog/dogs.
We have an abundance of toys, and time for play. Belly rubs, and cuddling are never short in supply. My black schnauzer loves tug-o- war with other dogs more than life itself. We play a lot of ball too. We like to sit out on the patio with the dogs in the evenings if it's cool. And of course there is lots of lounging and netflix binge watching.
Guest dogs will have my dogs to play with, or one on one time with us if that is what works best for your pup. Sometimes cuddles on the couch suit the guest dog just fine.
We keep the water bowls clean and wash the dog bowls often. We also have plenty of extra ceramic and stainless bowls for guest dogs.
Let us know if your pup has separation anxiety, is food/toy aggressive to other dogs or is fearful in any way to strangers. We have numerous safety gates in place to keep all pets safe. I never feed guest dogs with resident dogs, or feed dogs together that don't know each other.
We allow dogs on the furniture. I have a cleaning lady who helps me keep the house clean and we keep throws on our leather furniture. We have a large stash of throws we wash and rotate.
We have all kinds of security gates, play pens, kennels and video camera's in place so we can keep an eye on any guests, even when we are away.
Our home is clean, smoke free and child free. Our house is a one story, completely dog friendly home. Should your dog/dogs prefer to sleep in a kennel I have multiple sizes available for guests, as well as comfortable furniture and dog beds around the house.
We are older so we do better with calmer dogs. I have energetic schnauzers but they play with each other and get the occasional walk or trip to the dog park. Chasing birds, squirrels or lizards in the backyard seems to satisfy them. They love toys and time snoozing on the couch. Our ideal guest would be similar to our dogs.
We can administer medications to your pets providing you give us written instructions. I have given pain shots to one of my own dogs.
If we had to run an errand, we would kennel all guest dogs to keep them safe.
We have 3 miniature schnauzers (all neutered and on flea/heart worm preventative & have all their shots.) We prefer our guests to be on a monthly heart worm/flea preventative so we can keep fleas and heart worms out of our soil, grass, etc.. In the summer months we treat the yard for fleas and other parasites. Because I have 3 pups of my own, 1-2 guest dogs are ideal, but we will take 3 guests if they are from the same family.
We have volunteered with Miniature Schnauzer Rescue of Houston for the past 7 years and are very active with this rescue group. We have fostered & adopted from them as well as volunteering for special events and projects.
I've been through several basic training classes and have been working with The Rusty Project which provides dog training skills to volunteers of rescues. I have 50+ years experience with dogs and cats.
We will walk your dogs for free if it fits into our schedule. I like to do it on weekends with my husband, Sometimes if my husband is off during the day, he will walk them.
We prefer our guest dogs to be spayed/neutered unless the dog is a small puppy. Small natural males like Yorkie's are usually okay too. IF you dog is not house trained, please let me know up front so we can be prepared for that.
We live in a one story house with a dog door to the back yard and padlocks on the gate with a state of the art security system. When I have to go to work, I point security camera's at the dogs so I can watch them from my desktop.
We will provide pictures and texts of your dog/dogs visit so you can see they are having fun while you are away.
We can accommodate various special needs. Just let us know what your pup needs and we will tell you up front how we can help you.
One of the dogs I care for has cataracts and is almost blind, but she does very well here.
We can't wait to meet you and your fur-babies! Book your pups vacation with us now or Let's set up a meet and greet and see how that goes.
Thank you in advance for trusting us with your precious babies.
