About Melanie

Hi I'm Melanie,
I am a NICU nurse, a mom to 2 kids (16 and 13), a wife, and of course a HUGE animal lover!
I have loved animals my entire life. I grew up with cats, birds, hamsters, dogs and rabbits and my kids have had all types of critters! We currently have 3 dogs (a 4 year old cocker spaniel mix, a 2 year old yellow lab, and a 20 pound beagle? rescued mix) who LOVE to have guest come over and play! They all have lots of energy so they love to have guests come over!
We have a fenced in yard with an 8 foot privacy fence. The yard is mostly taken up by a big, in ground pool (which is great for the swimmers in the warmer months). Luckily we live directly across the street from an elementary school with a HUGE field behind it where we walk our dogs everyday. Your dog will definitely be getting plenty of exercise!
When we have a "doggie guest" sleepover, my kids will pull out the sofa bed in our living room and have a "slumber party" so the dogs feel right at home!
While I am at work (only 3 nights per week 7pm-7am) my kids and husband take care of the pets. There is almost always someone home because my husband is on the opposite work schedule. We would absolutely love to have your pet come stay with us!

Melanie S. and her family were terrific! Our dog got along well with their pets and they took great care of him. They even gave him his eye medication as needed.
Melanie took great care of my 5 month old puppy! I left for four days, but had daily messages and photos texted to me each day. Melanie was lovely and very welcoming as well as her three dogs. I felt very comfortable and would definitely leave Zara in Melanie's care again!
Melanie was a fantastic host! We received daily photos and updates. Our dog Abby made a lot of new friends. We will definitely use Melanie for all of our future pet sitting needs. Thank you Dogvacay and Melanie S!
Our Newfoundland, Cinder, was a tired, happy puppy when I picked her up after a week of fun at Melanie's. She sent me text and pictures during the week to let me know how she was doing, which put my mind at ease and let me enjoy my vacation. Cinder and I would both recommend Melanie!
As always, Leo is super anxious as soon as the car enters Melanie's neighborhood AND pouts on the way home. He really loves, loves, loves his temporary home and I do too. I never worry when Leo is with Melanie,
My pups had a great time. Melanie and her family were great.
Leo loves going to visit Melanie and his doggy friends........and Marie too. :-)
His tail starts wagging hard as soon as we turn to drive down her street.
It's hard to contain him in the car until I gather his food/treat bag and as soon as I open the car door, he runs fast right to the door.
I do believe this is truly telling and he absolutely is cared for with lots of love, for sure!
Melanie was great! She had two very friendly dogs that our pup (Colby) loved playing with. She was very flexible on scheduling drop-off and pick-up times (even staying up for us to pick up Colby at 9pm on a Sunday night after we got back from vacation!). She also made sure his blankets were freshly washed when we went to pick him up. Overall, Colby (and we) had a great experience with Melanie- she was thoughtful, experienced, and friendly!
Melanie and her family were kind, welcoming, and took excellent care of our dog. If you're looking for a loving family to look after your dog, you've found them!
Absolutely wonderful! No worries at all when I dropped him off and was away. I knew he would be like a member of the family. Awesome and so thankful I've found her!
Excellent, prompt feedback prior to and after the reservation, wonderful flexibility, and doggy heaven made this experience totally worthwhile for our four-legged friend AND us! Thank you!
When Leo is with Melanie and her family, I never have to worry. I feel very assured he is being cared for with love and his needs are being met.
Wonderful visit. Melanie and her family treated my high energy pup like their own. They went above and beyond for his needs and he slept all day when we picked him up. That's always a great sign.
We felt very comfortable with Melanie. As a non-neutered male, we know that Finley can be a handful in new house with other animals around but she and was very professional. Melanie and her family took good care of our boy.
Melanie was great, and our high-energy girl came home happy and tired! Thanks for all the family love you sent her way!
This was Leo's second stay with Melanie and it was absolutely wonderful! Leo was a little depressed when he came home from the last visit (I think because he missed his new doggy friends), but today, when he came home, he was ready for a nap. :-)
He must have tons of fun running with the other dogs and playing.
Yep, Melanie said he was now just a member of the family.
I never worry when Leo is there.
What an awesome family!
This was the second time we used Melanie's services to watch our dog(s). We contacted her this time last minute and she had no problem at all with taking our dog. We love sending our dogs over to Melanie, we know they are going to have a good time playing with all the other dogs and come home tired!!
Leo must have played really hard while he visited some new fun friends. He's been sleeping most of the time he's been home. :-) I think he misses his new friends.
I love the fact that the entire family helps with the boarding and the dogs are so welcomed.
I was so nervous to leave my pup with someone I didn't know. Melanie and her family was great!!! I did a meet and greet first which went well. So I decided to let her stay with Melanie for two days I worried and worried but I contacted Melanie multiple times during the days to get updates and she definitely put me at ease!! Jewel came home just as she left!! I will definitely use Melanie again she was very sweet her love for animals shows!!!
I was a wreck with worry about leaving our pup with a stranger for a whole week, but I'm so glad I did! Melanie's animal-friendly home was filled with dogs of all sizes, and my pup immediately made new animal and human friends. In the past, our dog would not eat when we put her in a kennel, and she returned to us acting needy and desperate, but when I picked her up from Melanie's, all her food was gone and she was glad to see us, but she seemed much more balanced and happy. We received several photos of our dog during her vacay w. Melanie, and it made a huge difference in maintaining my peace of mind. We'll definitely use Melanie again, without a doubt.
