About Me

Currently boarding small pets only. (no dogs or cats) Experienced caregiver of small animals who have unique and different needs than dogs or cats.

I received a certificate in Veterinary Assisting from Middlesex Community College. I have been a volunteer caregiver and foster home with the MSPCA Nevins Farm in Methuen for over 6 years. I am a member of their Small Animal Task Force. This is a group of hand picked volunteers that handle the more difficult cases at the shelter like sick, injured or neglected animals.

I am familiar with special needs and senior pets. I have worked with a variety of animals at the shelter such as rabbits, guinea pigs, mice, rats, gerbils, hamsters, ferrets, degus, chinchillas and know how to properly handle them.

I am a former volunteer with Greyhound Pets of America as a foster home and adoption counselor. I've had my own small animal rescues in the past. Currently the proud owner of 3 adopted dogs. Greyhounds Cassie and Logan and Italian greyhound Elvis. In addition we have a Florida corn snake Jake, a 75 gallon fresh water aquarium and 4 hens, Shirlena and Isabella Black Stars, Louise
and Henrietta Buff Orpingtons.

Alberta took care of our 5months old baby bunny while we were away on vacation for 3 nights. The bunny seemed happy and clean when we came back. She had also let the bunny play around in a big play pen.

My chinchilla Chino stayed with Alberta for 12 days and came back healthy and happy. I think he had a really good time and I got picture updates regularly so I knew my chin was doing well. Alberta was extremely flexible about pick-up times and always replied very quickly to all messages. Highly recommended! Thanks :-)

Alberta took care of my rabbit while I was away for Christmas. Alberta was fabulous: responsible, responsive, flexible, and caring. Her extensive experience working with "exotic" pets was obvious. When I met Alberta, she asked all the right questions. My rabbit, Autumn, doesn't like to be picked up, but Alberta has handled all kinds of special-needs rabbits, so I was confident that Autumn was in good hands. Autumn was initially stressed by the change of environment (as many rabbits often are) so she refused to use her litter box for the first few days; I felt bad that Alberta had to clean up Autumn's messes, but Alberta did a beautiful job and didn't complain at all. Not only that, but she gave Autumn a big exercise area, groomed her, bought greens and fed her several times a day, was generally attentive, and followed my bunny-care guidelines to the letter. Also, the room where Alberta houses her guest pets is clean, attractive, and comfortable. Overall I was thrilled with Alberta's services and I hope to book with her again later this year. Five-star accommodations!
