When you think about it, it makes sense that this is one of America's dog capitals. The tropical climate attracts snowbirds (and spring-breakers), serviced by dog sitters who hike with pets in Hugh Taylor Beach Park or stroll the Riverwalk from downtown to the beaches – where they'll encounter dozens of pet-friendly restaurants and smiling shopkeepers who provide shade and dishes of cool water.
